Drug Bust : Interstate 95 Motor vehicle Stop in Ridgefield Reveals Approximately 100 pounds of Marijuana

Ridgefield Park NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JIN CHENG CHEN (DOB: 6/16/1989; single; unemployed) of 658 52ND Street, Brooklyn, NY on drug related offenses. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

On May 3, 2021, pursuant to an investigation, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2015 Infinity QX60 as it was traveling on Interstate 95 South in the area of Ridgefield, NJ. A Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K9 was summoned to the scene and gave a positive indication to the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 100 pounds of suspected marijuana and a small amount of suspected ketamine. JIN CHENG CHEN, the sole occupant and operator of the vehicle, was arrested at the scene.

JIN CHENG CHEN was charged with one count of Possession With The Intent To Distribute Marijuana in a quantity greater than 25 pounds, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(10)(a), a 1st degree crime; and one count of Possession Of A Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Ketamine, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10(a)(1), a 3rd degree crime.

JIN CHENG CHEN was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Mark Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department for its assistance in this investigation.
