Drug Dealer Wanted in Bergen ,Who Assaulted a Police Officer Tracked Down In Philly

Hackensack NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of LIONEL GUERRERO (DOB: 2/14/1984; single; and unemployed) of 4448 N. 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA on charges of Attempt To Cause Death Or Serious Bodily Injury, Aggravated Assault On A Law Enforcement Officer, and Assault, as well as, Conspiracy To Possess With Intent To Distribute Crystal Methamphetamine and Conspiracy To Distribute Heroin. This arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.

Pursuant to a narcotics investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force, it was determined that on November 26, 2018, Lionel GUERRERO intended to complete a narcotics transaction in Camden, New Jersey. On the same date, detectives from the Bergen County and Camden County Prosecutor’s Offices conducted surveillance in the area of the drug transaction. GUERRERO was observed at the scene as the operator of a stationary vehicle. Law enforcement officers approached GUERRERO and, as he fled the scene, GUERRERO drove his vehicle at the approaching detectives, striking a Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office detective. The detective was transported to Cooper University Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.

On November 27, 2018, GUERRERO was arrested without incident in Philadelphia by members of the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, the Philadelphia Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Task Force. GUERRERO is currently awaiting extradition on his New Jersey criminal charges.
GUERRERO was charged by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office with one count of Conspiracy To Possess With Intent To Distribute A Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Crystal Methamphetamine, in an amount greater than five ounces, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2A(1)/2C:35-5B(8), a 2nd degree crime; and one count of Conspiracy To Distribute A Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Heroin, in an amount greater than five ounces, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2A(1)/2C:35-5B(8), also a 2nd degree crime.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office has charged GUERRERO with two counts of Attempt To Purposely Cause Death Or Serious Bodily Injury, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1A(1)/2C:11-3A(1), a 1st degree crime; two counts of Committing Aggravated Assault On A Law Enforcement Officer, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1B(5)(A), a 3rd degree crime; and one count of Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1C(1), a disorderly person’s offense.

Acting Prosecutor Calo states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit, the Philadelphia Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Task Force for their assistance in this investigation.
