East Rutherford NJ, the East Rutherford Fire Department answered a two alarm brush fire off of Madison Circle Drive , near Metlife Stadium . The National Weather Service had issued a wind advisory in effect for the metro New York area from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday with gusts up to 50 mph at times and the high winds quickly fanned the fire .
Firefighters got the fire under control around 10:30-11pm and according to the East Rutherford Fire Department , most of the fire was out but crews continued to operate ,hitting hot spots.
