Ridgewood Restaurant Village Green Says Its Final Goodbyes

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — A staple of the North Jersey dining scene has officially come to an end. Village Green in Ridgewood permanently closed its doors on June 6, 2026, leaving local foodies and loyal regulars devastated by the sudden departure.
According to a poignant statement posted on the official Village Green website, the closure stems from the recent sale of the building to a new landlord. Despite efforts to secure the restaurant’s future, ownership was ultimately unable to negotiate a sustainable new lease agreement, forcing them to shutter the property.
A Heartfelt Goodbye From Kevin, Brandi & Staff
In the wake of the closure, owners Kevin and Brandi, along with their dedicated staff, released an emotional farewell message to the Bergen County community, expressing profound gratitude for the sudden wave of support during their final weeks:
“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the incredible support you’ve shown us over the last few weeks. The response from our community has been overwhelming, and we are truly grateful for every visit, kind word, recommendation, and show of support. Your encouragement means the world to us and has exceeded anything we could have expected.”
While this traditional downtown Ridgewood chapter has officially concluded, the team dropped a glimmer of hope for the future, noting that they are actively exploring all options to potentially relocate and revive the brand elsewhere.
“If we find a new location, we will be sure to keep everyone informed every step of the way,” the statement continued. “Thank you again for believing in us and supporting our business. We are honored to be part of this community and appreciate each and every one of you.”
What’s Next for the Ridgewood Culinary Scene?
The loss of Village Green marks yet another high-profile shift in the competitive Bergen County restaurant landscape. Known for its intimate atmosphere and upscale American cuisine, the establishment’s exit highlights the ongoing challenges local business owners face amidst shifting commercial real estate markets in North Jersey.
Local patrons are advised to keep an eye on the official Village Green digital channels for any upcoming announcements regarding a secondary location or pop-up concepts.

I would have loved to eat there more often but the parking downtown is too expensive.
Its free after 6. So…
they are a class act with very good food.
Hope they find something else for us. With parking!
That place has been in business for a long time, I could imagine what the rent is. obviously, they were doing something right great food, great service, the atmosphere must’ve been good. Because they lasted extremely long time.
I have had several great meals there over the years. This was one of my favorite restaurants in town. I do hope that they reopen soon!
The exploding real estate market has raised all holy hell on lessees of commercial property. Add to that, the disturbing spike in electric rates, and even unconscionable spikes in water rates (Veolia anyway not sure about Ridgewood), are forcing restaurants who lease to jack up their prices, or pack up their bags. This whole mess was instigated by the China Virus, and exacerbated by the morons of the Biden Administration who saw fit to throw money at every problem which became seed money for rampant inflation.
