Englewood NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of JOSE RUBEN-GUTIERREZ (DOB: 11/21/1959; single; employed as a laborer) of Englewood, NJ, on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault By Sexual Contact, and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Lawrence Suffern.
On Wednesday, October 10, 2018, the Englewood Police Department received a report that JOSE RUBEN-GUTIERREZ engaged in sexual acts with a child under the age of thirteen in Englewood, NJ over the course of three years. An investigation was initiated by the Englewood Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.
As a result of the investigation, Jose RUBEN-GUTIERREZ was arrested on Monday, October 29, 2018 in Paramus and charged with two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2A(1), a crime of the 1st degree, one count of Sexual Assault by Contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2B, a crime of the 2nd degree, and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4A, a crime of the 3rd degree. RUBEN-GUTIERREZ was remanded to the Bergen County Jail and is scheduled for a detention hearing on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 9:00 AM.
Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Englewood Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
