Internet Swoons Over Englewood Officer After ‘Lost Dog’ Post Goes Viral

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Englewood NJ, The Englewood Police Department recently took to social media with a simple mission: reunite a lost puppy with its owner. Instead, they accidentally created a viral sensation, with hundreds of local residents suddenly showing a brand-new interest in community policing.

The department posted a photo of a stray French Bulldog found wandering near West Palisade Avenue and Humphrey Street in Englewood, New Jersey. Hoping to track down the owner, the post featured the adorable pup hitching a ride in a patrol unit.

Riding Double with Officer Lagrosa

“PO Lagrosa will be riding doubles in the patrol car today with our newest addition to the ‘EPD temporary K-9 Unit,'” the department captioned the photo, adding a playful question on behalf of the lost Frenchie: “DO YOU KNOW WHERE I LIVE?!”

While the post was completely intended to help the lost dog find its way home, the comment section quickly took a hilarious turn.

Commenters Diverted by “Officer Handsome”

It didn’t take long for the community to lose focus on the French Bulldog entirely. Dozens of commenters flooded the page, seemingly far more interested in the police department’s human asset—Officer Lagrosa—than the cute canine passenger.

Local residents left a flurry of cheeky remarks, jokingly asking for the officer’s patrol schedule, asking if he was single, and playfully wondering what minor infractions they would need to commit to get a ride-along of their own.

The Englewood Police Department is still hoping the viral attention successfully reaches someone who recognizes the Frenchie. If you or anyone you know recognizes this pup from the West Palisade Avenue area, please contact the department directly. (And no, Officer Lagrosa is not available for adoption!)
