A river runs through it — and Uncle Sam isn’t far behind.

That’s what several Republican lawmakers and even state farming groups and local governments are warning, after a draft rule from the Environmental Protection Agency proposed expanding which waterways are federally protected under the Clean Water Act.

The concern is that the move could give the feds authority over virtually any stream or ditch, and hand environmentalists another way to sue property owners. In other words, critics say, the government might soon be able to declare jurisdiction over a seasonal stream in your backyard.

If so, good luck getting a permit to expand building space on your property, or marketing your land to prospective developers.

  1. Try not to get carried away with the BS.

  2. BS? I bet you didn’t think the government would monitor your emails and phone either!

  3. The definition of “Waters of the United States” is not changing; there is no jurisdictional extension. Look at the Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory Program and the Nationwide Permits (33 CFR Parts 320 – 330). Lots of small activities are already authorized under Nationwide permits and this will not be affected. Developers know how to build in and around wetlands areas and there’s nationwide permit that allow for fill and access and egress to sites. And, BTW, most states already have more restrictive requirements than the federal government.

Stop with the kneejerk reactions. Fox News ought to be ashamed to have published this. At best it is deceptive; at worst it’s fiction.

    1. yes and in the last 5 years EVERY SINGLE TIME people claimed government over reach they were right

  4. Thankfully we have Fox News. They report facts.
If the 99percent of the rest of the press=liberal lamestream media asked the real questions of this socialist government we would be a lot better off,. Where were the questions about Obamacare? Now we are stuck with this communist crap that will be repealed. How come the press doesn’t ask questions of the imposter in chief?

  5. #5 – care to give some examples?
