>Extramarital relationships involving BOE and VOR employees

>Since the inception of this Blog, the Fly has periodically received anonymous reports of extramarital relationships involving employees of the BOE and VOR. Since off duty conduct is a private matter, and none of the allegations have been accompanied by substantiation, our Blog’s moderator has thus far chosen not to post any comments related to “immoral activities.”

However, the Fly understands that extramarital relationships between employees (or a administrator/teacher-parent, police officer-resident relationship) can create moral issues in the minds of other employees, as well as Ridgewood’s residents.

What do you think – Do BOE and VOR leadership teams have a responsibility to address reports of extramarital relationships involving their employees? Or is what goes on in private just that, a private matter? If the Fly receives substantiated reports of affairs with obvious conflict of interest issues (e.g., a manager-subordinate relationship), should they be posted?

  1. >The impact on children will always be terrible.

    Don’t post it.

  2. >Extramarital relationships involving school administrators have been going on for years. Eventually it catches up with these adulterers … several I knew about have all left the district, three of those the marriages broke up. What goes around comes around.

I agree with 8:22 AM, spouses and their children will be hurt if you post names on your blog. These adulterers think they are hiding it so well when everyone around them know what they’re doing.

My question is: Is there something in our school drinking water that is causing so many to stray from their marriages?

  3. >These adulterers are disgusting, especially the ones employed by the BOE— their friends do talk and their community know about them.

  4. >PJ,
not on this blog….as stated above…too many people would get hurt…you are not the morality police. However,it’s a different story if something illegal is going on….

  5. >”Let the blogger who is without sin cast the first stone”

  6. >wow ,you people really give yourselfs away easy heheheheeh

  7. >WAKE UP!! its a new world….ANYTHING one says, writes (email) or otherwise seems to find its way onto the net..good or bad..it happens…until you realize that someone can get pix or flix of you with a cellphone cam doing things in ‘private’, such as having a meeting with someone you dont want your spouse to find out about, or forward your off-color email jokes. Scary but reality…perhaps it will make the population behave more

  8. >Reality in Ridgewood is more entertaining than any sitcom ever made.

  9. >You don’t need to stoop this low…their incompetence in their jobs is enough to have them voted out of office.

This blog doesn’t need to air dirty laundruary.

  10. >Best to leave it alone for the sake of the children, hey PJ? We don’t tread where it will hurt them.

  11. >If we post stories/rumors of these private affairs, what’s next for Big Brother?
    — Gay/lesbian members in the Village Council?
    — Heavy drinking/drug use by off-duty members of the Ridgewood Parks Department??
    — Private nude photos of the Ridgewood librarians???

(Okay, maybe that last example went too far 😉 )

As an alternative, I recommend everyone practice the Golden Rule: if you don’t want *your* deepest/darkest secret posted on a public blog without your consent, then don’t post someone else’s deepest/darkest secret without *their* consent.

    Peace,

  12. >PJ just let them know we know who they are what they are doing and they will not get away with it

  13. >9:16
    What, pray tell, is disgusting?

PJ is asking a question and a relevant one.

He seems to be getting good advice so what’s your problem.

Please, if you are this intolerant, even of a QUESTION, then DON’T COME BACK.

  14. >10:17 — in other words, “Big Brother is watching you”?

Who elected you the Thought Police?

  15. >Oh for god’s sake, this really is a new low for this blog. Honestly. And you like to call yourself a “news source.” Never have agreed with that description, but publishing unsubstantiated rumors — about things that have no bearing on the quality of our schools or our village management — would definitely not fall into the “news” category. That’s just gossip and, yes we all have fun doing it but this is not the proper forum.

  16. >I saw PJs original question, and I thought, “Hmmm, interesting issue, lets see how everyone responds.”

A few relevant comments mixed with the rantings of a few idiots. Guess this shows why PJ should NEVER post the gossip, rumors, and crap that will destroy this blog.

You do a wonderful job, PJ. Stay the course. You would NEVER be able to screen out the garbage from some disgruntled employee or angry neighbor, who either wanted to discredit a manager, or just wanted to watch the sparks fly.

While I am shocked to see how crooked our local gov seems to be… lets leave personal stuff out of it. Many of us already pull back when some idiot poster makes a comment about our police, fire department, or town employees personal habits. If its not breaking the law, then who are we to judge?

Dont go there, PJ. Nothing productive can come of it.

  17. >this really is a new low for this blog. …PJ is just trying to keep up with the Ridgwood News and there fake stories about fake blogs ….can you say “Math Gate”

  18. >My kids have come home and told me of inappropriate behavior by school personnel. I find that disgusting.

  19. >If any BOE or VOR employee, male or female, is receiving preferential salary treatment and/or special perks because of his/her physical involvement with an elected official, and/or member of the BOE or VOR leadership team, the taxpayers have a right to know that information. However PJ, please post proof in the form of identifiable photos, e-mails, voice recordings, etc.

The same holds true for any BOE and VOR employee who conducts extramarital relationships while “on the clock.” If you’re fooling around on the taxpayers’ dime, or earning extra money because someone in power craves your body, you deserve to be busted.

Unfortunately, the Village Council already let a VOR employee get away with on-duty hanky panky with just a slap on the wrist. Perhaps someone on the Council, or the VOR leadership team, has a skeleton of sorts in his/her own closet and didn’t want it exposed? In any case, unless someone’s head rolls over this, screwing around on the taxpayers’ dime will continue unchecked in Ridgewood.

  20. >if you have a public persona…NOTHINGS off limits

  21. >If it is an underling and employer and you have absolut proof and that is why they have the job and the salary, it’s valid.

If it’s two stupid people hurting their family, but neither one signs the other’s timecard, then please don’t go there.

  22. >It is in the water!

United Water, these things only happen at one end of town. From Village hall east.
    CHECK IT OUT.

PJ leave it alone, sometimes one and one don’t make three (ha ha).
    Not our concern.

  23. >bad idea pj 116

  24. >I agree to leave it alone for the spouses and the kids sake.

  25. >Anonymous said…
if you have a public persona…NOTHINGS off limits

Define public persona. Now define what give YOU (or me) the right to decide thru a completely ANONYMOUS posting what should be reported via a blog about someone’s personal life.

See how slippery this can get?

When someone sues PJ for libel, will YOU come forward and help pay his legal fees and any damages? If the answer is NO, then I’d be very careful about posting rumors and love stories.

  26. >The content of any e-mail transmitted via a BOE or VOR provided e-mail account, whether sent from a taxpayer purchased computer or one owned by the employee himself/herself, is subject to full disclosure via the OPRA process. If you think someone is a sleazebag, file an OPRA and ask to see all of his/her e-mails, especially if you know who the e-mails are being sent to.

  27. >”sounds like some people are worried about being exposed…”

so many people are now running for cover that the earth is shaking in Ridgewood

  28. >this is a msg board. IF someone thru an anonymous post makes a libelous comment, then there is a process in which the IP address of the poster can be verified (correct me if i am wrong PJ) Public persona is a wide ranging definition…however a private persona would belong to someone who is NOT a politician, NOT an employee of a government entity, NOT a celeb, etc etc.. I recall years ago when i was employed by a municipality (NOT in this state) it was a small town, and lots of ppl ALWAYS had their nose in what I thought was my private biz..who am i dating, did i go out and drink too much (i didnt) but just to give u a few examples. I am now a private citizen here and as such, my business is my own. I suspect most of the municipal, state, federal employees would also be ‘private persona’ unless their position/interaction with the public would cause their name to be ‘newsworthy’…once that ‘newsworthy’ litmus test is passed…then all bets are off on your private persona… if you are a private businessman trying ‘stir the pot’..then you have made yourself public… either way…i agree that ANY posting by name should be taken very seriously, and consider the legal ramifications if the poster is unable to verifiy…i am sure there are enough lawyers out there to give you a dozen answers/interpretations to all of the above. but naming names about affairs, trysts, etc prob would result in lots of innacurate info posted by those with an axe to gring

  29. >This is not a message board. The anonymous posts dont hit the Blog until PJ releases them. Therefore, HE becomes libel, as he is the one providing the information into the public domain.

  30. >Therefore, HE becomes libel, as he is the one providing the information into the public domain. …actualy you do because you can trace the IP and find the poster ,this is also why you dont make threats on the internet(5 oh) you are not as anonymous as you think.

  31. >a few years ago there was a website/board..whatever you want to call it in the town of emerson. got real nasty. not sure how it ended but my recollection is that the moderator/board owner/blog owner was not held responsible for the anonymous posts’ content.(despite ‘moderating’ via deletions) those who felt slandered were able to find the IP of the posters thru legal channels (i think) it became quite ugly due to the personal attacks and prob did not serve the best interests of the residents as they aired their ‘dirty laundry’ and made personal attacks & allegations. The postings named certain public elected officials, their relatives in certain departments (town employees) etc… I guess this is the reason many good folks refuse to ‘throw their hat in the ring’ and run for election, or subject themselves to congressional commitees for ‘approval’ in washington dc…. sad world.

  32. >You definitely hit a nerve here PJ. Maybe you’ve scared some of these adulterers to go back and fix their marriages. Wine and roses would be nice fellas. Right now they’re probably sweating it out wondering if they’ll be exposed. Don’t be the one to expose them PJ. Let these illicit affairs take their natural course because sooner or later the spouse will find out and hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

  33. >3:12 – Congrats on winning the Smug Self-Righteous Post of the Day!

    Sincerely,
A guy who isn’t a BOE or VOR member
and isn’t having an extra-marital affair
    but things it’s ludicrous
that someone in the 21st century
would try to play the role of Arthur Dimmesdale
    and pin a Scarlet “A”
    on a fellow villager

  34. >They don’t call us a bedroom community for nothing.

  35. >pj, leave the losers alone cause thats what their gonna be when spousie find out

  36. >What would Dr. Phil say? He’s done many shows on cheating spouses.

  37. >…no one can accuse us of not living down to our reputation…Rigidwood we’re not — oohhh…I better rethink that word rigidwood.

  38. >no.it should not be posted.

  39. >”You definitely hit a nerve here PJ. Maybe you’ve scared some of these adulterers to go back and fix their marriages. Wine and roses would be nice fellas. Right now they’re probably sweating it out wondering if they’ll be exposed. Don’t be the one to expose them PJ. Let these illicit affairs take their natural course because sooner or later the spouse will find out and hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”

This post suggests that only men cheat. Who says there couldn’t be some female BOE and VOR employees fooling around? It takes two to tango my friend!

  40. >”My kids have come home and told me of inappropriate behavior by school personnel. I find that disgusting.”

If you failed to notify anyone in authority about your children’s observations, then you’re part of the problem.

  41. >No one has yet responded to the question of whether or not an employer should assume some responsibility in breaking the affair up.

  42. >This blog has sunk to a new low. Does it say anywhere on a job application that adultery is grounds for dismissal. Now if employees were fornicating on school time – that would be a dissmissable charge, but if not, then that’s a private matter.

What goes on in the bedroom of another Ridgewood resident, BOE employee, etc is nobody’s business but the parties involved. I think it is a disgrace that you people would even bring this to a debate.

  43. >8:07 — someone in authority was notified

  44. >Make love not war. Peace.

  45. >How about the married policeman accused of molestation during work hours in the police car? Was this policeman dismissed? Didn’t the village end up settling and paying up the accuser?

  46. >nuthin wrong with a little afternoon delite and a fine cigar..right Bubba? heheheheeh

  47. >”What goes on in the bedroom of another Ridgewood resident, BOE employee, etc is nobody’s business but the parties involved. I think it is a disgrace that you people would even bring this to a debate.

    9:23 PM “

Again, this is true if they are not Supervisor and Subordinate. They it is unprofessional and leaves the town open to a sexual harassment suit.

  48. >All’s quiet in Peyton Place today.

  49. >If America is the land of the free and the home of the brave, what is Ridgewood?

Land of the money slaves and home of the coward.

We’re shocked, shocked that there’s drinking and sex going on here.

  50. >O.K….so our village is rife with extramarital affairs…we also have robberies, rapes, suicides and murders. We’re no different than any other town…in other words, our s__t stinks like everyone elses. I know it is hard for some in Ridgewood to admit that.

Now if you listen to the village realtors Ridgewood is Camelot. Doesn’t take long though to scratch that surface and see what lurks beneath.
