THE RIDGEWOOD NEWS
Now that Ridgewood and Glen Rock have scrapped plans for a shared municipal vehicle repair facility, a team of economic gurus is advising the village to step back and conduct larger studies and explore more alternatives.
In its annual report to the Ridgewood Council, the Financial Advisory Committee acknowledged that the village’s existing fleet services building on Chestnut Street is in “decrepit condition,” and options other than constructing a new facility might be available.
Over the past year, an ad-hoc committee comprised of Ridgewood and Glen Rock officials had investigated moving the public works operations of both towns to a new shared facility. Last month, however, the site of the proposed project, which is located adjacent to the village’s water treatment plant in Glen Rock, was deemed too small to meet the needs of the two municipalities.
At a council meeting last month, Roberta Sonenfeld, FAC vice chair, recognized the ad-hoc committee’s desire to move quickly on the fleet services project, but she advised that even more research is required.

If you notice some of the members of FAC have strong ties to the Ridgewood Lbrary or have donated to it along with other resident that involved in the CBD construction. My prediction is that someone from the FAC will be the next village manager. That will complete the circle.
keep the building at the site ware it’s been for 80,yrs. just fix it up.
Someone who volunteers for the FAC will likely have “strong ties” to other organizations. If you want to get something done, ask a busy person.
Someone from the FAC actually in a position to implement their recommendations? Sounds fine to me.
Let me get this out of the way and save the trolls some time: #3 & #4 you are an apologist, newbie, valley doll, ping-pong playing, pro-construction, Democrat friend of Paul hell-bent on the complete destruction of the village we all live in. We know all this because we disagree with you.
#5 = Troll
“Someone from the FAC actually in a position to implement their recommendations? Sounds fine to me.” Thanks R for your comment. Just because you are on the FSA and put a few sound bite that residents want to hear that make you more qualified then any other candidate that has applied for the VM job. Everybody knows that the THREE AMIGOS where going to use that line to get you appointed. There is more to running any town. Just because they have been a on a hand pick part time committee should not be the only qualification. There is a big difference between suggesting and implementing a plan. Remember the word TRANSPARENCY? Well we will see.
#5, don’t forget communist and all-around charlatan.
Serving on the FAC disqualifies someone from serving as Village Manager ? That’s odd logic.
No #9 it doesn’t disqualified them but it should not be the only qualification. If there are much more qualified candidate with a diverse background in financial, government and H R. Then they should be considered rather then someone who claim to fame is FAC and a consulting businesses in the private sector. Experience in local government is the key.
If you always do what you always did you always get what you always got.
Who said it was “the only qualification” #10 ? We should pick the most qualified candidate, period. I think the point people above were trying to make was that someone who understands the financial burdens and costs structure of the VoR might have something to offer the VoR. It’s a similar logic to hiring legacies at RPD: if they are truly the most qualified candidate, the fact that their dad was the Mayor and former Police Chief shouldn’t disqualify them, right ? I don’t think it should, nor do you. Let’s get the best candidate.
I agree you you #12. Just to let you know he was the Captain not the Chief.
