Fair Lawn NJ, a Saturday afternoon in Fair Lawn took an unexpected turn when a black SUV went airborne and landed on top of a parked, unoccupied sedan.
The Incident
Around 4:00 PM on November 16, Fair Lawn police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle crash on Langan Court. According to witnesses, the SUV was attempting to pull into a parking space when it suddenly accelerated, launching over the curb and landing squarely atop a blue sedan.
Emergency Response
The Fair Lawn Rescue Squad and Firefighters arrived quickly to stabilize the precariously perched SUV, allowing the shaken driver to exit safely. Fortunately, the driver sustained no injuries but was evaluated on-site by the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Removing the vehicles required specialized equipment. A hydraulic lift tow truck carefully lifted the SUV off the sedan, while a flatbed tow truck removed the damaged sedan from the scene.
Cause of the Accident
Fair Lawn police officers investigating the crash believe the incident was likely caused by the SUV driver mistakenly pressing the gas pedal instead of the brake.
A Reminder to Stay Vigilant
While no one was injured in this unusual crash, it serves as a reminder to remain cautious and focused while behind the wheel, especially in tight parking situations.
