Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. is calling on residents and shoppers to share their thoughts on how they would like the Fair Lawn Avenue and River Road business district to evolve. The feedback will help shape future projects as the local economic development group partners with Main Street America, a national consulting organization, to reimagine the area.
According to Ryan Greff, Executive Director of Fair Lawn Main Street, the district was “ripe for transformation” even before the devastating strip-mall fire in late July that destroyed several stores on Fair Lawn Avenue.
“River Road is a commercial district with huge potential due to its walkability and high traffic,” said Greff. “If we can create a vibrant economic ecosystem that encourages people to stop, shop, and visit, it would be a significant win for the community.”
How to Share Your Input on the Business District’s Future
Fair Lawn residents can participate in a community survey available on Fair Lawn Main Street Inc.’s Facebook page. The survey asks for feedback on what types of businesses people would like to see, why they shop locally, and what draws them to the area. While the survey officially closes on Thursday, it will remain open over the weekend for those who still wish to contribute.
Organizers are aiming for at least 200 responses, with hopes that the community’s input will guide informed decisions on the district’s future.
“Understanding the reasons behind shopping habits in Fair Lawn is key,” said Greff. “The goal is to positively transform the local economy based on the community’s needs and vision.”
This initiative marks the beginning of a strategic effort to breathe new life into the River Road business district, with potential strategies to be discussed in the coming months.
