WASHINGTON DC, The FBI will not recommend criminal charges against Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server while secretary of state, agency Director James Comey said Tuesday, lifting a major legal threat to her presidential campaign.

Comey said that although the investigation found “extremely careless” behavior by Clinton and her staff in their handling of sensitive information, the FBI had concluded that “no charges are appropriate.” He said the agency believed that “no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case.”

The announcement came at today’s 11am press conference and three days after the FBI interviewed Clinton for hours in a final step of its yearlong investigation into the possible mishandling of classified information.

It is however unlikely to wipe away many voters’ concerns about Clinton’s trustworthiness. As well as the appearance that some people seem to operate above the law and by their own rules.

  1. The problem is not that Secretary of State Clinton didn’t know what her country expected of her when it came to conducting and managing e-mail and other forms of electronic communication between her and others while on government time between 2009 and 2014. Instead, the problem was that she never had the desire or any intention to meet any of these expectations. The procedures set up by State Department IT and security personnel to enable SecState employees like Mrs. Clinton to comply with U.S. laws and security rules were always clearly and completely contrary to HRC’s unshakeable intention to keep her electronic communications secret. Her overriding goal was that nobody in the government, or in the public (via standard FOIA requests), would have any access to such communications. Nobody called her on the carpet for this sort of IT freelancing while she was Secretary of State. Now that she is an ex – Secretary of State, the FBI has suggested that no reasonable government prosecutor would pursue criminal charges in this case. Hence the U.S. government has given her behavior an official stamp of approval, at least in retrospect.

  2. Obama, as the foremost spokesman for the U.S. government, needs to admit that the federal government has no way to force cabinet secretaries to submit to the security rules with which other government actors much comply. Not only that, but Hillary Clinton has to show how she will force her own cabinet secretaries to comply with security laws and rules that she so brazenly flouted for her own benefit and convenience and with exactly no negative consequences.

  4. Crooked Hillary.

  5. Wow,,, what a shocker
    /*sarc off*/

  6. Comey lets her skate on the email because that charge implicates the entire State Department and the Cabinet.
He then targets Hill, Bill and their inner circle for public corruption and influence peddling through the Clinto Foundation.

  7. Welcone to Brasil

  8. The Clinton’s are absolutely crooks. The only reason why she had the private server created was to simply keep the financial deals where access and preferential Government treatment was sold to the highest bidders. The reason the decision was made by the FBI was down to pressure from above. To recommend charges would have created all kinds of political problems. Basically, it was a case of too big to fail. This will probably hurt her by costing her a few votes, but she will still make it to the WH due to blind loyalty from women, Democrats, and most of all, the mainstream media.

This has to be the lowest point in any run-up to a Presidential election.

  9. Paranoid conspiracy theorists. You must be Trump supporters. Making things up is not limited to Donald.

  10. This blog intermittently reminds me that I live in a Red stronghold.

  11. Red stronghold? Ridgewood? You must live in some kind of alternate universe.

  12. 9:06pm, where do you live?

  13. Republicans will not be happy till they have 8 investigations at taxpayer expense. How did the Benghazi hearings work out for you? Even a Republican Committee could not alter the truth.

Republicans need to get back to work and stop staring at every shiny object that passes by.

  14. Did it ever occur to all the know it alls that there was a State Department mole compromising Clintons official email?

  15. AP Fact check

“I did not email any classified material to anyone on my email. There is no classified material.”
THE FACTS: Actually, the FBI identified at least 113 emails that… contained materials that were classified at the time they were sent, including some that were Top Secret

“I never received nor sent any material that was marked classified.”
THE FACTS: … the private system did, in fact, handle emails that bore markings indicating they contained classified information

“I responded right away and provided all my emails that could possibly be work related”
THE FACTS: Not so, the FBI found

“It was on property guarded by the Secret Service, and there were no security breaches.”
THE FACTS: The FBI found that Clinton’s personal server was “not even supported by full-time security staff like those found … even with a commercial email service like Gmail”

“I thought it would be easier to carry just one device for my work and for personal emails instead of two.”
THE FACTS: Clinton “used numerous mobile devices to view and send email”

  16. She put your secrets and security at risk too. Doesn’t that upset anybody? Your foreign intelligence services are less effective now because other countries know specifics about what the State Department was and will be doing – because Hillary Clinton (for whatever reason) put her email (Our email really) out in the open.
The fact that she had her own email infrastructure is irrelevant. She could have easily secured it, and easily archived it, but chose not to..that’s the proof of her intent.
