Firefighter injured, and family displaced in 3-alarm fire in Old Tappan

Old Tappan NJ, a three-alarm fire displaced a family in Bergen County and injured a firefighter, according to officials.

The fire started around 1:30 p.m. Friday on Cheryl Lane in Old Tappan. It is believed that the fire started in the back of the house and then spread to the attic.
Firefighters from the Pascack Valley area and Rockland County, New York responded to the fire. It took crews about an hour and a half to extinguish it.
River Vale Fire Department Engine 57 and Ladder 59 responded into Old Tappan for the 3rd alarm fire. Fire was through the roof. Engine 57 arrived on scene and went right to work pulling ceiling and knocking down fire on the first floor. Ladder 59 arrived shortly after.
Closter Fire Department also responded to the call for help from their  neighbors in Old Tappan .
Westwood Fire Department was dispatched to stand-by at Old Tappan fire headquarters with an engine while they operated at a 3rd alarm house fire.
“There was no injuries to any of the civilians. They were all able to evacuate safely. We did have an injury to a fireman. He sustained a facial injury. He is at the hospital right now. It wasn’t life-threatening and not severe at all,” says Old Tappan Chief Brian Morgan.
