Fast-Moving Floodwaters Lead to High-Stakes Rescues
Among the busiest units of the evening was Engine 4, which responded to five separate storm-related incidents in rapid succession.
One of the most critical calls brought Engine 4 to McBride Avenue, where initial reports warned of multiple vehicles submerged in deep water with individuals potentially trapped inside. Firefighters rushed to the scene to conduct a primary search. Fortunately, after a thorough investigation of the floating vehicles, first responders confirmed that all occupants had managed to evacuate safely.
Just up the street on McBride Avenue, Squad 1 encountered another emergency involving a stranded vehicle surrounded by rising floodwaters. Firefighters quickly deployed rescue equipment and successfully saved one occupant who had climbed onto the roof of his vehicle to escape the rising tide.
