Ridgewood NJ, Ford Motor is set to reduce its originally planned production of the all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup by nearly half next year, representing a significant shift after the automaker had previously expanded plant capacity for the electric vehicle in 2023.

The revised production plans indicate an average volume of approximately 1,600 F-150 Lightnings per week at Ford’s Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan, starting in January, as per information from a source familiar with the decision. The initial plan had aimed for an average production of about 3,200 vehicles per week.

A Ford spokeswoman commented on the decision, stating, “We’ll continue to match production with customer demand.”

In response to changing circumstances, Ford executives have emphasized the company’s commitment to aligning production with demand. This comes as Ford cancels or delays $12 billion in planned investments in electric vehicles (EVs).

  1. “We will continue to match production with customer demand”…and not what liberal politicians want based on the greatest hoax in our life time…climate change

    1. Ford is telling us the demand is not there…because a 350-400 mile max before recharging is incredibly inefficient. Give me gasoline!!!!

  2. nobody is going to be forced to buy an electric vehicle
    Biden is an asshole.
call it what it is… ‘coal powered’ car

    1. coal was 19.7% of elec generation in 2022 so likely not. https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=427&t=3

      1. Regardless… NOBODY wants an Electric Car.

It is an answer to a question that nobody asked.

  3. Biden is an asshole , but don’t forget about murphy

  4. Give it a couple more years, and we will be forced to use taxpayer dollars to bail out Ford and GM for the third time, or is it fourth time? These companies have such a high cost base that they go all in on making ridiculously expensive vehicles (this cycle it is all-electric vehicles, last cycle it was oversized SUVs), and thistime thhe US government is complicit in having them recklessly overinvest in electric vehilces that the public cannot afford and do not want.

    1. GM…. government motors
How did the imposter Barry get the unions ownership over the creditors

  5. Battery weighs 1,800 lbs.
Think about the energy needed just to carry that around.

    1. Think about that weight on the top floor of the garage in town. Gteed they didnt account for that structurally.

  6. So very true this is gonna backfire right in the government phase stupid asses. Can you imagine if they get rid of all the gas engines and we were stuck with the battery powered. Someone’s making a lot of money off this bullshit. Could we see about 25% of electric vehicles. Yes that’s about it.

  7. 4 major points. Aside from them not being safe, the anxiety alone about low batter when driving, the charging time (5min to fill up on gas vs 30 min to charge) and of course the cost of these things!! I am sticking with gas!!
