Hackensack NJ, in honor of Veterans Day, Bergen County is offering a wonderful opportunity for veterans and active-duty service members to enjoy a free round of golf at any of its six golf courses from November 11 to 15.
A Small Gesture of Gratitude
County Executive Jim Tedesco expressed that providing complimentary golf is a small way to show appreciation for the sacrifices made by those who protect our freedoms. “We hope this opportunity offers a moment of relaxation and enjoyment to those who have given so much to our nation. Honoring our veterans and service members is one of the most important commitments we can make,” he said.
Tedesco, along with the county’s Board of Commissioners, Parks Department, and Division of Veterans Services, extended their unwavering respect and appreciation for the veterans who have served.
Annual Tradition with a New Twist
This annual event has received a positive response in the past, and this year, organizers are encouraging veterans to call ahead to reserve their tee times. This change aims to ensure that more people can take advantage of the free golfing experience.
“Freedom comes at a cost, paid for by the sacrifices of the courageous men and women who serve in our armed forces,” said Bergen County Commissioner Steven Tanelli. “As a small expression of gratitude, Bergen County is proud to offer free golf to all veterans and service members this week. This gesture serves as a reminder of the unity and support that strengthen our communities.”
How to Participate
To participate, veterans and active-duty service members must be residents of Bergen County. They can reserve a tee time for up to four golfers, but any additional guests who are not active-duty or veterans will need to pay the full price.
To ensure a spot, veterans and service members are encouraged to make a reservation by calling 201-336-2759 between October 28 and November 1, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Keep in mind that availability may be limited after November 1. When making a reservation, veterans will need to provide their name, town, date of birth, military branch, years of service, email address, and phone number, as well as the number of golfers in their party.
