Dear Neighbor:
Friends of Ridgewood Emergency Services, (FOREST), conducts one fund drive per year in support of Ridgewood Emergency Services (RES) Volunteer first responders. Ridgewood Emergency Services depends on your generous donation to support its mission to provide the best available emergency medical services and emergency assistance to the residents and guests of the Village of Ridgewood.
For 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, Ridgewood Emergency Services’ highly-trained volunteers are available whenever and wherever your emergency occurs. The Emergency Medical Services Division responds to your call for medical assistance while the Special Operations Division responds to a myriad number of requests for assistance. Given the capricious nature of weather — and other unpredictable emergency events — the Volunteers cannot afford to simply hope for the best outcomes. Ridgewood Emergency Services must plan, constantly train and have the best equipment to respond to any emergency. Thus, the mission of FOREST is to raise revenue by your donation through our annual fund drive to support RES.
RES Volunteers not only respond to emergency medical requests, but the Volunteers also respond to calls for trees and power lines down throughout the Village during storms. RES secures the scene for the safety of other responders and for the public with emergency lighting and deploys signs for road detours and closures. The Volunteers participate at the Touch A Truck, Super Science Saturday, Memorial Day Run, High School Graduation, July 4th Parade and Fireworks, Ridgewood High School Football games,
Car Show, Street Fair, and Downtown for the Holidays and other planned events.
Ridgewood Emergency Services Volunteers responded to more than 2000 emergency calls in 2018. This equates to 20,814 cumulative hours donated by the volunteers while on active duty. This does not include time spent on training, meetings, and event preparation: a cost savings of well over
$1 million annually to the Village.
Please support Ridgewood Emergency Services with your tax-deductible donation to FOREST. Checks may be made payable to Friends of Ridgewood Emergency Services Teams (FOREST) and mailed to 33 Douglas Place, Ridgewood, NJ 07450. Donations can also be made online at www.ridgewood911.org. FOREST is a charitable organization under IRS section 501(c)(3). Please consider volunteering with the Ridgewood Emergency Services by calling (201) 670-5570 or send an e-mail to membership@ridgewood911.org Training is free. You can make a difference to your family, friends and your community.
Sincerely,
