WYCKOFF, NJ — Former NFL reporter Dianna Russini may be making headlines lately for her sudden departure from the sidelines, but this week, she’s being hailed as a local hero. On Wednesday afternoon, Russini reportedly played a pivotal role in rescuing a 73-year-old man and his dog following a dramatic car crash in Wyckoff.

According to a witness account from the New York Post’s Page Six, Russini was driving behind a Jeep on Sicomac Avenue around 5:00 PM when the accident unfolded.

The Heroic Rescue on Cedar Hill Ave

The collision occurred when a 17-year-old local resident, driving a Honda Civic, attempted a left turn onto Cedar Hill Avenue and struck the Jeep. The impact was enough to cause the Jeep to overturn, landing on its side.

Russini didn’t just call 911—she got involved. Witnesses say that after stopping her vehicle, someone helped lift her onto the side of the overturned Jeep. From her vantage point atop the vehicle, she helped pull the driver and his dog to safety before emergency responders arrived on the scene.

Condition of the Victims

Wyckoff Police Lt. Joseph Soto confirmed the details of the crash:

  • The Driver: A 73-year-old Hawthorne man was taken to a local hospital after complaining of head and shoulder pain.

  • The Dog: The driver’s dog was safely removed from the wreckage and appeared to be in good health. It was handed over to a friend of the owner.

  • The Other Driver: The 17-year-old driver of the Honda Civic was unharmed in the incident.

Ongoing Investigation

As of Friday, the Wyckoff Traffic Bureau is still investigating the cause of the crash. While the scene was chaotic, no summonses have been issued yet.

For Russini, who has been at the center of media speculation recently following her resignation, this moment of split-second bravery offers a different kind of spotlight—one defined by community spirit and a “safety-first” mindset.
