The Record

Glaze Donuts, the New Milford shop that sells outrageously delicious “artisan” doughnuts, has opened a second location in Ridgewood where you can get all of its fresh creations, including two of its popular hybrid pastries: the cronangle and the doughnish.

The cronangle ($2.50) is, of course, a play off the Manhattan sensation called the cronut – Glaze’s version is essentially like a fried flaky croissant, served glazed or with flavored fillings (such as apple and cheese) or toppings (such as chocolate and caramel drizzle). It’s quite rich, though much less oily than other cronut imitators we’ve tried.

  1. And now the owners are going to ruin a good thing…..
this is a classic example that has repeated itself in the CBD way to many times.
there paying stupid rent because, well, you just gotta be in Ridgewood.
and to top it off they are going into THE OLD CRUMB BAKE SHOP SPOT.
holy crap does anyone do any research/business planning anymore???
did anyone read the Bergen Record today? right next to the announcement about Glaze
opening in Ridgewood is an artice about the death of artisnal coffee houses and there high prices.
get it now? people are not paying high prices for your “artisnal” coffee so you can pay your greedy landlord.
it’s over…it’s BEEN over..I’ll continue to patronize my local deli because he has parking an his coffee is $1.50…
this place will be closed in 6 months …tops…..

  2. This is the former location of “Crumbs”.

  3. And I will continue to make coffee at home that’s about 1000% tastier for a tiny fraction of $1.50.

  4. Yea 5:13 I just said that…….please READ B 4 commenting, thank you.
And yes 1:29 that is very true as well….in fact the record article stated that the budget ground coffee ( folgers, maxwell house) have been out pacing
Artisanal coffees for some time now.

  5. I wish them the best of luck and I am sure Ridgewood is lucky to,have this new business in town. Thank you for putting your money, your hopes, and your hard work into your new shop on Ridgewood Avenue.

  6. And if hey don’t make it they will blame in not on the landlords with their greedy high rent but the old catch all for Ridgewood problems no parking. Does anyone know the profit margin on cupcakes and how many they would have to sell before the break even?

  7. How about you let the owner make his or her decision on their business? If they want to take this risk, let them. Perhaps even go give their products a try. Or don’t. But why all the hostility? Who really cares?

  8. Thanks for your comment Ed Sullivan ……I mean 9:58.
11:22 you can make as many as you like….it’s still not going to cover the overhead in that location….anyone with any knowledge of what has transpired in the CDB over the last few years would know better than attempt ANYTHING in that location…..check the history people.

  9. Who really cares 9:52?
I do….it’s careless business people like glaze who come into town
Without a plan because someone whispered into their ear that “Ridgewood” is the place to be. They think that there recent success
Justifies the move/expansion and the rent will be paid because of “all the business there going to do in town. WRONG. Soon they realize that the parking sucks, foot traffic is non existent and wa- la……poor sales/ store closes and the cycle continues. It’s screwing other merchants in the CDB because it affects them when the lease needs to be renewed. STOP THE INSANITY……do a little research b4 you jump….the endless cycle of businesses coming and going only benefits greedy landlords.

  10. Hey 7:54pm, how do you know the business person is careless? Did you speak to them? See their business plan? Have any idea at all? Maybe you read their mind? The fact remains is that you know nothing and feel the need to complain. Do I think Ridgewood “needs” a donut shop? Not necessarily but the market and economics will decide.
