Glen Rock NJ, during the September 23 meeting of the Glen Rock Board of Education, a significant change occurred when longtime board member Elizabeth Carr announced her resignation. The same meeting also saw the approval of a new basketball coach from out of town—who ended up resigning just days later.

Now, as the election nears, six candidates are vying for three open spots on the board. But with Carr’s resignation happening so close to the election, her seat may be filled through an appointment process rather than the election.

The Glen Rock Board of Education is seeking applicants to fill Carr’s position, with interested candidates required to apply by Monday, October 14. The district released an official notice, inviting community members to submit their applications for consideration.

Here is the official statement from the school district:

Glen Rock Board of Education Notice of Board Vacancy

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Glen Rock Board of Education is seeking applicants to fill a vacant seat on the Board, effective September 23, 2024. The successful candidate shall serve as a Board member from the date of appointment through December 31, 2025.

Individuals interested in applying for this vacancy should forward a letter of interest and their résumé or qualifications to the School Business Administrator/Board Secretary, James Canellas, at Glen Rock Board of Education via email at canellasj@glenrocknj.org.

Applicants must submit their letters of interest and accompanying documents no later than 3:00 pm on October 14, 2024, to be eligible for consideration.
