Glen Rock Fire Department dispatched to the Ridgewood Sewer plant on Prospect street for a reported burning odor

Glen Rock NJ, A strong odor of chlorine inside of the Village of Ridgewood’s Water Pollution Control Facility, located at 561 Prospect Street, Glen Rock, caused multiple employees of the facility to feel ill on Saturday morning, 08/03, and resulted in emergency response by Glen Rock Police, Glen Rock Fire, Glen Rock EMS, and the Bergen County Hazmat Unit. Two (2) of those overcome by fumes were transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital for treatment. The source of the odor remains under investigation by Fire and Hazmat personnel.

Glen Rock Fire Department reported , ” At approximately 7:48 AM this morning the GRFD was dispatched to the Ridgewood Sewer plant on Prospect street for a reported burning odor. Units arrived and determined it was more of a chemical odor and request Bergen County Hazmat to the scene. The Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps was request for workers feeling light headed. As a precaution two workers were transported to the hospital. Bergen County hazmat found small traces of an unknown Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) in the air. It is believed an unknown solvent material had been poured into the sanitation lines and was working it’s way through the plant. DEP was notified. All units cleared around 10:05 AM.”

  3. Sell Ridgewood Water – the Council has no clue how to operate a water utility, and uses this cesspool as a piggy bank for further stupidity like the Elks building renovation. Insanity!

  4. Pollution Plant is not owned by the water department. Do you need to get your info an order.

  5. We would love to know how many millions of gallons of raw sewage comes into that plant. People have no idea how much weight water is Treated. Well anyway thank you crew for handling that each and every day, especially on holidays middle of the night top job. And it’s a tough job smelly job. Thank you
