Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock’s newest Police Officer was sworn in by Mayor Kristine Morieko at a private ceremony on January 7th, attended by his family and members of the Glen Rock Police Department. Due to COVID-19 restrictions a public ceremony was not possible.
P.O. Andrew Magro, who previously served as a Dispatcher with the Allendale Police Department, will begin basic training at the Bergen County Police Academy on February 4th. A public swearing in will take place after his graduation from the Police Academy, expected to be in early July. He replaces an officer who left the department in early 2021.
Our new officer joins the Glen Rock Police Department as the top scoring candidate, among 150 applicants, through a comprehensive selection process which began in August of 2021. Candidates began the process with a comprehensive written entrance exam conducted by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police. The top scoring candidates then competed in a physical agility test and a command board interview as part of the selection process, before being interviewed by the Public Safety Committee of the Mayor and Council and receiving a recommendation from the Chief of Police. As the top scoring candidate, P.O. Magro also passed a comprehensive background investigation, psychological and medical examination.
