RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ — A joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and local police has led to the arrest of a 32-year-old Ridgefield Park resident following a reported violent encounter at a local residence.

The Allegations: A Residential Assault

According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, the incident occurred on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. Investigators from the Special Victims Unit allege that Luis M. Morales-Jutzuy attempted to sexually assault a female victim inside a home within the Village of Ridgefield Park.

Following a rapid 24-hour investigation, Morales-Jutzuy was located and apprehended in South Hackensack, NJ, the following Wednesday.

Serious Legal Charges Filed

Morales-Jutzuy currently faces multiple criminal counts in Bergen County Superior Court:

  • Second-Degree Attempted Sexual Assault: (N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1/2C:14-2c(1))

  • Two Counts of Fourth-Degree Criminal Sexual Contact: (N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3b)

ICE Detainer and Immigration Status

The case has gained additional attention due to the defendant’s immigration status. Morales-Jutzuy, a citizen of Guatemala, was initially remanded to the Bergen County Jail. However, reports confirm that U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) agents took the defendant into custody on Thursday, April 23, shortly after his initial processing.

Multi-Agency Cooperation

Prosecutor Musella credited the successful arrest to the seamless coordination between several North Jersey agencies, including:

  • Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit

  • Ridgefield Park Police Department (led by Chief Michael Cmielewski)

  • South Hackensack Police Department

Note on Legal Procedure: All charges are merely accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
