Hackensack Police : Online Threat to Public Schools is Unsubstantiated

Hackensack NJ, on September 14th at approximately 7:35 A.M, the Hackensack Police Department was alerted by Hackensack School Officials and the public regarding an online threat of violence to several schools within the city.

The Hackensack Police Department is aware of an online post referencing several city schools and is actively investigating the matter in coordination with Hackensack Public Schools. If anyone has any information related to the post, please contact the Hackensack Police Department at 201-646-7777.

 

The Hackensack Police Department, along with the Bergen County Prosecutors Office, investigated the incident. As a result, a juvenile was taken into custody and served with numerous juvenile delinquency offenses.

The investigation revealed that this online threat is unsubstantiated.

The Hackensack Police Department stresses to everyone, including students, to understand the ramifications of making threats, whether they are true or not. Making threats can have serious legal consequences.
The Police Department and Schools continues to remind all students, parents, and staff to report any suspicious or threatening activity. Threats can be reported to school resource officers or school administrators.
