Handyman Charged with Assault of a Minor in Demarest

Demarest NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of ALEJANDRO VELASQUEZ (DOB: 05/06/1975; married; self-employed handyman) of 101 Kitchell Road, Morristown, NJ on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault By Contact and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Demarest Police Department under the direction of Chief Christopher Bianchi.

On Monday, August 20, 2019, it was reported to the Demarest Police Department that ALEJANDRO VELASQUEZ sexually assaulted a juvenile under the age of 13 while working in a residence in Demarest, NJ. As a result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Demarest Police Department, ALEJANDRO VELASQUEZ was arrested on Monday, August 20, 2019 in Demarest, NJ and charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2A(1), a 1st degree crime; Sexual Assault By Contact in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b, a 2nd degree crime; and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a, a 3rd degree crime. ALEJANDRO VELASQUEZ was transported to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would like to thank the Demarest Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
