  1. One can only assume that the lawsuit, which certainly included a lot of legal fees, hit him pretty hard.

  2. Myron worked his tail off day and night to keep his head above water. Other slackers would have just closed the doors, walked away and declared bankruptcy after that awful ruling against him. The last year must have been very, very difficult for him. When I was in the store on one of the last days, he and his wife were desperately trying to get things in order, straighten up, etc.

  3. Maybe Myron wasn’t maximizing his profits . . . maybe he was busy being a decent human being. I know that on many occasions he would call me to advise that my prescription cost was sky high and recommend I call my doctor for a less costly (and likely less profitable) alternative. On at least one occasion, when I was stunned at the price of a prescription ($250) that had previously been covered by my insurance (the month before), he charged me $10 over his cost. I think the lawsuit hit him hard.

  4. I have no doubt that he got killed by that lawsuit. Gotta love those scumbag opportunist lawyers, who know that even if the evidence isn’t necessarily in their favor, they can still beat you into a settlement submission. It’s a huge racket. These things go on and on and you end up begging for mercy and to stop the endless fees from your own lawyer.

As for his profitability, etc. I think independent pharmacies are a dying breed. They simply cannot remain profitable due to the chain pharmacies. Even the chains will eventually go due to the impossibility of competing with online pharmacies.

  5. Didn’t his liability insurance cover everything?

  6. make it a go go bar.
