Hawthorne Police Officers Leap into the Passaic River after a Suspect Attempting to Escape

Hawthorne NJ, on Tuesday a stolen car traffic stop on the  North 6th Street Bridge shortly before 4:30 p.m led to a handcuffed suspect leaping into the Passaic River . Hawthorne Officers jumped in after him .
Finally recovering the prisoner by boat .  No injuries reported .

Hawthorne Police posted on Facebook: “We really appreciate all the well-wishes for our officers who ended up going for a swim yesterday. Good guys, bad guys, and everyone in between, our goal is to preserve life. Fortunately everyone involved is safe and healthy. UNfortunately, incidents such as these are becoming “just another day at the office.”

  4. If I was a cop I wouldn’t have jumped in dirty bloated water because what happens now if he gets some kind of infection on his body , Then what.
