Ridgewood NJ, effective immediately, Ridgewood Police Department Captain Forrest Lyons has ordered the closure of Heermance Place at East Ridgewood Ave. during all Ridgewood High School (RHS) lunch periods. The Captain’s closure order is in response to several vehicle vs. pedestrian “near misses” that occurred on the street during these times.
The segment of Heermance Place between East Ridgewood Ave. and the northernmost fence line of the RHS Stadium is owned by the Ridgewood Board of Education (BOE).
Questions directed to Village Manager Heather Mailander regarding the continued provision of Village of Ridgewood street sweeping and snow plowing services on BOE owned property have not yet been answered.
Typical.
Punish everyone for the misdeeds of the few.
Such a good call to do this. I also wish that only compact cars could park on Hermance in those spots. It’s impossible to see around big SUV’s when pulling out of those spots. Near misses all the time.
Linch periods? There’s only ONE lunch period . They all go to lunch at the same time.
Excellent idea let’s keep it safe, some people use that as a Cutthrough people drive way too fast through there. It should only be used for school traffic only
“Linch periods? There’s only ONE lunch period . They all go to lunch at the same time.”
Every day.
As in, there are 5 lunch periodS per week. Therefore, the road is closed during lunch periodS.
If you’re going to be pedantic, try to think through your comment before posting.
The road was built in 1923.
And now it’s suddenly a problem…?
You mean all the free periods…
Great, now the Socialists want to ‘cancel’ Heermance Road !
The street should be used just for Board of Education local traffic only not a Cutthrough,
burnout central for at least 50 years
Either the people have gotten stupid over the years or too sensitive over everything… Maybe both.
