dangerous
I commend Mr Loving for putting in the time all hours of the night
Did this pursuit comply with the NJAG’s guidelines? It was for a traffic violation only I heard.
So….if he was transported to Hackensack with non life threatening injuries….then why say he was critically injured???
Appropos of this story about the motorcyclist who was gravely injured after a recent high speed chase into Ridgewood, just this morning (Monday, August 20) at about 9:15am, I was waiting for a bus at the Ridgewood Park and Ride on Rt. 17 S. near Racetrack Road when a motorcycle screamed past us heading south through normal rush hour traffic.
You would have expected the motorcyclist, encountering the predictably increased traffic in the transition from the Allendale/Hohokus area to the Ridgewood/Paramus area, to at least ease up on the accelerator, even if he wasn’t inclined to apply the brakes. Instead, he maintained speed, and was either weaving past cars and other vehicles, or travelling straight down a lane line.
Based on the sound the motorcycle was making, which was deafening, it could not have been traveling anything slower than 140 MPH, whereas other vehicle were traveling no faster than 40MPH. You could hear it coming from up north a good five seconds before it passed us heading south (which is why I turned around to see what was causing the noise). Visually, the motorcycle was nothing but a blur when it passed us. I have never seen anything so reckless in all my years in Ridgewood. If the guy didn’t end up in an accident and as badly injured as the other motorcyclist I mentioned or worse, it was certainly due to dumb luck, or pure chance.
No it wasn’t!! There is now way it was doing 140MPH!! No way!!! 140mph on that highway at that time with that type of traffic would be impossible to do without an accident. At some point he would have had to stop or slow down and at that speed, slowing down in such a short period of time would never happen.
