Hillsdale NJ, The Hillsdale Police Department is currently investigating an incident that occurred on 1/14/2020 at approximately 9pm on Hopkins Street in Hillsdale. At that time a juvenile female was walking her dog when she observed an older dark-colored four-door sedan stop near the intersection of Hopkins Street and Stever Ave, perform a U-turn and then drive south on Hopkins Street towards the juvenile.
The juvenile ran to her residence where the vehicle followed her into the driveway. According to the juvenile’s mother, the suspect (identified as a black male with a medium build, with an age ranging from twenty to thirty years of age) approached the side door of the home and was confronted by the mother. At that time, the suspect returned to his vehicle exited the driveway and traveled north on Hopkins Street and traveled east on Stever Ave at a high rate of speed.
The Hillsdale Police Department is currently reviewing surveillance cameras from homes in the area and following up on any other information that we receive.
The Hillsdale Police Department is looking for anyone who resides in the area that may have information pertaining to this incident to contact the Hillsdale Police Department Detective Bureau at 201-664-4200.
Chief Robert Francaviglia has instituted additional patrols of the affected neighborhood and we are working in conjunction with our school districts and surrounding law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of our residents.
