North Arlington NJ, a hit-and-run crash in Kearny Sunday night left a North Arlington man severely injured while riding a moped, authorities reported.
According to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, Kearny police were called to the intersection of Harrison and Bergen Avenues around 10:15 p.m. Sunday following a collision involving a cargo van and a moped operator.
The 67-year-old victim, whose identity was not disclosed, sustained life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported to University Hospital in Newark. Subsequently, he was transferred to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition as of Monday afternoon.
The driver of the van fled the scene, but the vehicle was later recovered nearby, authorities stated.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit in collaboration with the Kearny Police Department. Authorities urged anyone with information regarding the crash to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor at 201-915-1345 or to provide an anonymous tip through hcpo.org/homicide-tip.
