Glen Rock NJ, on Sunday, December 8th, Chief Dean Ackermann and members of the Glen Rock Police Department’s day tour participated in a heartfelt tribute to our nation’s veterans. The group placed a wreath at the Glen Rock Honored Heroes War Memorial in front of Borough Hall as part of the Wreaths for Our Heroes program.
A Day of Remembrance
The ceremony followed an earlier event at the Paramus Veterans Home, where law enforcement representatives from across Bergen County gathered to honor and remember the 80,000+ veteran heroes who served their country with bravery and dedication.
As part of this countywide initiative, each Police Chief was provided with a wreath to bring back and place at their local memorial, ensuring that every community had a chance to reflect on the sacrifices made by its veterans.
About the Wreaths for Our Heroes Program
The Wreaths for Our Heroes program is organized by the Bergen County Police Chiefs Foundation, a group dedicated to supporting active and retired U.S. military personnel and their families throughout Bergen County. Their mission includes:
- Honoring the service of military veterans.
- Providing assistance to those in need within the veteran community.
- Promoting awareness of the sacrifices made by service members.
A Community’s Gratitude
By participating in this meaningful ceremony, the Glen Rock Police Department reinforced its commitment to honoring those who have served. The wreath-laying serves as a powerful symbol of remembrance, reminding us all to appreciate the freedoms and security we enjoy thanks to the courage of our veterans.
