Ridgewood NJ, on Thursday 9/3/2020: “C” Shift practicing Standpipe Operations at the new Village Parking Garage. Fire hydrants work by tapping into a pressurized system.  In addition, a fixture called a standpipe facilitates firefighting within buildings and works like an overhead sprinkler system.

  4. We will be talking about this things for years, and the talk will be about how the place is never more than 5-10% full.

  5. Too bad we didn’t build the 5 story version – this one will never be big enough to hold all those restaurant patrons.

  8. Garage stands EMPTY, people have been parking illegally for FREE all day in the private business lots around corner in the bank lot.
Packed full but no customers in bank. Paper warning slips go ignored. Cars pack driveway alongside the Liquor & Cheese Shop.

  9. The good news is they can blame COVID for the financial disaster.

  10. Guilty as charged, yeah sometimes on Saturday early evening I park in the bank lot to run into Super Cellars, Sook or the Chinese place because the Super Cellars lot is small and I’d rather not block the crosswalk on Broad. I am sure those businesses are happy to have more customers not less. Who cares if the bank is not open that people use that lot. If bank is open, should be left for bank clients only. And sure I’ll use the garage too and have done so several times already. Seriously, time to worry about bigger issues than people parking “FREE” and “illegally” (do the caps mean you are yelling?) in the bank lot when the place is not open. Let’s say the FREEloading parkers are not just running in to Super Cellars rather spending the evening in town. So about 15 spaces in that lot, 3 hours of ‘missed’ revenue on 2 weekend nights, 52 weeks out of the year, and let’s call it $1.75 lost revenue/hour. That’s a little over $8k a year, which this town pisses away rather more easily on a lot of other things.

  11. It was clean, well lit and full on Saturday night. Best thing Ridgewood has done. Better than dealing with the crapy parking lot (eye sore).

  14. The only positive thing to say about the garage is tat a previous council wanted it to be larger.
