ICE Officers Intercept Convicted Child Sex Offender Following Release from NJ State Prison
the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Union City NJ, In a high-priority enforcement action, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Newark have apprehended a convicted child sex offender just moments after his release from a New Jersey state correctional facility.
The individual, identified as Alvaro Tuero, a Cuban national formerly of Union City, was taken into federal custody upon his release from a state prison in Bridgeton on March 6, 2026.
A Pattern of Violent Offenses
Tuero’s criminal history in New Jersey reveals a long-standing pattern of high-risk behavior and offenses involving minors. According to federal and state records, his prior convictions include:
-
Sexual assault of a child under 13
-
Endangering the welfare of a child (Sexual Conduct)
-
Lewdness
-
Burglary
-
Parole and Megan’s Law violations
Recent Sentencing and Release
Tuero’s most recent stint in the New Jersey Department of Corrections stemmed from an October 25, 2024 sentencing in Hudson County. This sentencing was the result of a child endangerment offense committed in early 2023, along with a violation of a special sentence tied to a previous sex offense.
Despite a three-year sentence for the endangerment charge, records show Tuero was processed for release this month, at which point ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Newark officers were waiting to take him into federal administrative custody.
The Role of Federal Oversight
This arrest highlights the ongoing coordination (and often tension) between state releases and federal immigration enforcement regarding “removable” non-citizens with violent criminal records. Tuero has a history of failing to comply with supervision; in 2018, he was notably arrested for violating the terms of his Megan’s Law supervision.
Currently, Tuero remains in federal custody pending further immigration proceedings or deportation efforts.

This is called taking out the garbage !
DEMOCRATS fight tooth and nail to keep ICE from finding out about these releases.
DEMOCRATS fight tooth and nail to keep ICE from finding out about these releases.

I said it three times to get it into your thick skulls.
Get rid of all the aliens now!! Shame on the Dems for protecting them instead of us legal US citizens!
Why was it okay for Biden, Obama and Clinton to deport illegal aliens, but Democrats fight tooth and nail to not just fight against the deportation of regular illegal aliens when Trump does it, but to fight against the deportation of those who have committed serious crimes?
Your logic is absurd and clearly the result of 10 years of TDS news coverage.
