If You’re Worried About School Shootings, This Ingenious Invention Could Make Our Kids a Bit Safer

After the tragedy at Sandy Hook, Steven Walker decided something need to be done to better protect our kids. He created a blanket made from military grade, bullet-resistant fabric.

The potentially life-saving invention acts as a shield to an estimated 90% of weapons used in school shootings, and can even absorb the impact of some debris from tornadoes or earthquakes.

According to its producers, the Bodyguard Blanket is very user-friendly, and can easily be fastened around a child or teacher.

  1. Nobody has time for that.
If a few teachers in each school (properly trained, former military etc) were packing a gun (concealed), it would be a deterrant if a shooter knew that SOME teachers were armed, but not which one.
Since we put armed pilots in the cockpits, and undercover armed TSA types on the aircraft, NONE have been hijacked.
Of course logic won’t stop a nut job, but an armed teacher will.

  2. I feel like crying that this item had to be invented. The Cold War was bad enough. Now kids at school have to wonder if they’re going to be shot to death. I can’t stand it.

  3. #2, despite the ‘touchy feely’ world we live in, its a reality.
Political correctness has created a generation that cannot deal with the crazy world we live in. (and it will only get worse)

  4. I remember the air raid drills in elementary schools years ago and it scared the crap out of me…but that was the world in the early 1960’s.

  5. the air raid drills were fun – not scary
