Paramus Nj, a little excitement at Ikea in Paramus this Black Friday, shoppers were evacuated from Ikea in Paramus after the store’s rooftop heating unit malfunctioned Friday, according to authorities.
Early unsubstantiated reports suggested a gas leak at the store.
Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg told the Paramus Patch that police officers and firefighters responded to the furniture store after receiving a report around 1:20 p.m. regarding an odor in the building and promptly initiated an evacuation.
First responders “corrected the situation” and Ikea has since reopened “a short while” after that, the chief said around 2:30 p.m.
