Secaucus NJ, on Saturday, four buses carrying migrants arrived at the Secaucus train station, with passengers subsequently taking trains into New York City, as reported by Secaucus Mayor Michael Gonnelli.

NYC’s New Executive Order

This movement comes just a week after New York Mayor Eric Adams announced an executive order stipulating that migrant buses must arrive in NYC only between 8:30 a.m. and noon on weekdays at a designated drop-off location. The buses are required to unload passengers at the loading zone on West 41st Street between 8th and 9th Avenues in Manhattan. Failure to comply could result in fines, lawsuits, or impounding of the buses. Additionally, chartered buses must provide 32 hours’ notice before arriving in the city.

Finding a Loophole

Mayor Gonnelli expressed concern that bus operators are exploiting a loophole to bypass these requirements by dropping migrants off at the Secaucus train station. “It seems quite clear the bus operators are finding a way to thwart the requirements of the Executive Order by dropping migrants at the train station in Secaucus and having them continue to their final destination,” he said.

Broader Impact in New Jersey

Gonnelli noted that similar situations are occurring at other train stations in New Jersey, according to the New Jersey State Police. In response, he stated, “I have been advised the State of New Jersey has a plan in place and we will be working closely with the Governor’s office, all law enforcement agencies, and the County to monitor this situation.”

Coordination with Federal and Local Partners

Governor Phil Murphy’s administration confirmed their awareness and tracking of these bus arrivals. “New Jersey is primarily being used as a transit point for these families — all or nearly all of them continued with their travels en route to their final destination of New York City,” said Tyler Jones, deputy press secretary for Murphy.

The Bigger Picture

Since spring 2022, over 161,000 migrants have arrived in New York City, seeking aid. The recent developments highlight the ongoing challenges and logistical complexities faced by local governments in managing the influx of migrants and ensuring compliance with new regulations.

As the situation unfolds, coordination between New Jersey and New York authorities will be crucial in addressing the needs of migrant families and ensuring orderly transportation and compliance with executive orders.

  5. If you think they’re not here already then you you’re not paying attention. This announcement only opens the door for massive distribution. It’s a holy pride month , even our churches have pride flags so show tolerance and embrace the new world of chaos and uncertainty. Don’t forget to vote for Brandon again. Trump writes mean tweets. And by the way, we will need that Schedler field. The current fields here will be occupied by soccer loving immigrants. It will be a spectacle. Enjoy it my liberal friends. Your “ideals’ will pretty soon bear fruits for all of you.
