THE RECORD
In a speech to a receptive business group, incoming Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco on Tuesday said he supports expanded gambling at the Meadowlands Sports Complex, as part of a remaking of the complex that includes a convention center and a hotel.
During his remarks to the Meadowlands Regional Chamber, Tedesco also said that he recently met with executives of Triple Five — the new developers of the long-stalled shopping and entertainment complex that is once again under construction at the Sports Complex. — and that they agreed to meet with the Bergen freeholder board “within the next three weeks.” Tedesco, a supporter of the company’s American Dream plan, said he wanted Triple Five to make a presentation to update the freeholders on the progress at the site.
During the campaign, in which he ousted incumbent Republican Kathleen Donovan, Tedesco had said he supported casino gambling at the Meadowlands.
Why add more problems than the state already has, gambiling is not a cure all for lack of money.
Let’s legalize prostitution while we’re at it.
Now is when we learn once again the price we pay when GOP leadership in the form of an elected executive officeholder is allowed to philosophically and intellectually decay until it becomes a shell of what it should be, and what we as residents sorely need it to be, creating a vacuum into which is drawn the dregs of the modern political progressives.
Read Bloomberg: replaced by a flaming leftist sixties-style radical who would show up late for his own funeral–what a disrespectful joke.
Read Bush: replaced by an Alinskyite community-organizing Cloward-Piven strategy-employing narcissist and nihilist bent on destroying every arguably decent aspect of our civil society under the guise of “transforming” this country from the evil thing it now is…into what, exactly???
Read now Donovan, whose replacement will probably end up breaking his own neck willingly if he has to to ensure that his jihadist-style attack (sure to come) on Bergen County’s blue laws succeeds.
And predict or imagine soon… Christie… whose replacement will probably concern him or herself more or less solely with divvying up what’s left of the New Jersey treasury and other state assets to the leadership of the NJEA and other members of and beneficiaries associated with municipal and state employee unions while we hurtle headlong into a weird form of state – level bankruptcy, and along the way, converting New Jersey into the East Coast equivalent of Illinois in terms of machine politics.
Awsome #3……..thank you
Tedesco swore up and down to uphold the Blue Laws in his beloved Paramus, but to hell with East Rutherford when he welcomes gambling seven days a week. Yes, that means Sundays too and Football Sundays even worse. I’m sure Freeholder #1 will have something extra in his envelope too when the slot machines start churning.
Couldn’t agree more #3. Latest projections have two of the NJ state’s pension funds running out of money by 2024 and 2027, and there are so many union thugs trying to grab what’s left before it runs out, is it any wonder the state is imploding ? So the solution is to bring gambling – which is dying in AC – to the Meadowlands ? Like that won’t invite yet another model of graft & corruption to Bergen County ?
