Mahwah NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of CHRISTOPHER M. TROIANO (DOB: 11/07/1984; single; unemployed) of Mahwah, NJ on child pornography charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.
On Thursday, February 3, 2022, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of CHRISTOPHER M. TROIANO during a months-long Internet child pornography investigation. The investigation revealed that TROIANO used the Internet to view, download, and possess more than 1000 digital files depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children. It was determined that TROIANO distributed digital files of child pornography on the Internet, as well.
As a result of the investigation, CHRISTOPHER M. TROIANO was arrested on Thursday, February 3, 2022 in Paramus, NJ and charged with second-degree possession of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b (5) (b) (ii); and second-degree distribution of child pornography, N.J.S.A 2C:24-4b (5) (a) (i). TROIANO was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the Mahwah Police Department for their assistance, as well as the Lyndhurst Police Department, Rochelle Park Police Department, Hackensack Police Department, Ramsey Police Department and Saddle Brook Police Department, which all participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
