Ridgewood NJ, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon is taking a firm stance on returning to the office, making it clear that he expects employees to show up five days a week—with no exceptions.
During a town hall meeting on Wednesday, Dimon dismissed employee efforts to maintain hybrid work, responding to a petition pushing back against the mandate.
“I don’t care how many people sign that f—ing petition,” Dimon said, as reported by Reuters.
Dimon’s No-Nonsense Approach to Remote Work
The JPMorgan chief, who has led the country’s largest bank for nearly two decades, has repeatedly criticized remote work. In his latest remarks, he made it clear that employees unwilling to come into the office daily are free to leave the company.
“I’ve had it with this stuff,” Dimon stated, according to Barron’s. “I’ve been working seven days a goddamn week since COVID, and I come in, and—where is everybody else?”
Beyond attendance, Dimon is also pushing for a 10% increase in efficiency across departments, urging employees to cut unnecessary reports, meetings, and training sessions.
Employee Backlash Against JPMorgan’s Office Mandate
JPMorgan officially ended remote work in January, requiring its more than 300,000 employees to return to the office full-time. While more than half of the workforce was already in-office, many employees are resisting the move.
More than 500 JPMorgan workers signed a petition urging Dimon to reconsider, arguing that eliminating hybrid work hurts employees, customers, shareholders, and the company’s reputation.
Despite the pushback, JPMorgan appears unlikely to budge, as Dimon continues to stress the importance of in-person collaboration and efficiency.
Layoffs Loom Despite Record Profits
The return-to-office debate comes amid significant job cuts at JPMorgan. The bank has already laid off about 1,000 employees and is reportedly planning further workforce reductions in the coming months.
Even with record-breaking annual profits, JPMorgan is tightening operations—making it clear that Dimon’s expectations for efficiency, productivity, and in-office presence are non-negotiable.
Bottom Line
JPMorgan employees may be fighting to keep hybrid work, but Dimon isn’t budging. With layoffs on the horizon and a firm return-to-office mandate in place, the message is clear: show up or move on.

Remote work was definitely the new way and was great as far as cutting out all that commute time. However, not everyone played their part honestly and ruined it for the rest of us. As for Government workers, forget about it. They tend to be bottom of the barrel to begin with, so giving them thus opportunity just resulted in them being even more useless than they already were.
I’m retiring in 16 months…I don’t care what you do to me anymore.
