Twp of Washington NJ, township residents are still trying to stop the rezoning of an area just north of Washington Avenue ,on Pascack Road targeted to be a strip mall . In a post on the Facebook page Stop Re-Zoning Washington Township is the following call to action:
“We have one more chance to express our concerns to the Zoning Board at their Jan. 24 meeting. The Mall’s location at this extremely busy intersection will bring large amounts of additional traffic and create hazardous driving conditions. There are bus stops and left-hand turn lanes just feet from the corner, where cars will have to cross two lanes of traffic to enter and exit the Mall. The plot of land has been zoned residential for many years, LET’S KEEP IT THAT WAY!
While I respect the owner’s desire to profit from their investment, I believe there can be a residential solution such as a much needed, elevated three story condo with single-floor living moderately priced, comparable in size to adjacent two-story town homes.
If we do not show-up at the next Zoning Meeting, we will be giving them a pass to move forward. Please take a few hours out of your comfort zone and come to the meeting on Jan. 24 at 7:30 pm in Town Hall.
This is NOT a done deal, unless everyone just sits on their hands and lets it happen. Please join the fight. Thank you.”
The idea of a strip mall at that area is insane.
You’re not being very business-friendly.
Just north of Seasons, formerly The Fin and Claw. Would be a traffic nightmare and probably lower the property value (and “tone”) of surrounding homes.
Sympathies to residents who are trying to incite protests. People are passive and clueless, partly as a result of the demise of local newspapers. Even the shoppers that arrived in the mail free every week would have covered this.
Residents rose up to stop the charlie brown takeover… need the same effort
The NIMBY crowd would object to any other use. 3-story residential with “affordable units”??? How many people are seeking un-affordable housing?
you really are buying the “affordable housing bs”
While Paramus approves a huge CVS and 7-11 at the corner or Paramus Road and East Ridgewood Ave. . . . Can’t wait for that traffic mayhem and filth blowing over I to the river.
there is some issue with that as well , a group in Paramus is challenging the whole thing
