Ridgewood Nj, Council Candidate Jeff Voigt reflects on the League of Women Voters Candidates . Jeff told the Ridgewood blog ,”Night It was great to see so many residents turn up for the debate.  It really shows how concerned and involved we all are in our Village on where we are headed.  Secondly, the questions posed by the LWV provided to us and; as well those asked and not revealed were spot on – they hit all the key issues.  It was a great opportunity for us to state our positions and how we think about these issues.”
Jeff went on ,”I would personally say hats off to both Bernie Walsh and Ramon Hache – they both did a really nice job. They would represent the interests of our Village well.  If all three of us were elected, we would think about issues independently and critically and; come up with solutions that were best for the Village.  As well we would complement Susan Knudsen and Mike Sedon on the council.”

Summing up evening Jeff said ,” I found it almost fitting that at the end of the night Mayor Paul Aronsohn was not allowed to ask a question – almost as if this current Council majority was being silenced.  I know this was not intentional by the moderator, but it sent a rather strong message to the audience and those listening – that it is time for our Village to move on.   This also means our moving on from the policies and ways of doing business that have existed and; unfortunately would be replicated if Evan Weitz, Janice Willet, and Richard Brooks replaced them (and who are all actively supported by Paul Aronsohn).”

  1. Jeff , you’re my man. My family will vote for you. My concern however is that in the past election that brought us Aronson & Co only about 20% of voters went to the booths. You need to find a way to bring more voters out. You can be sure that those who voted for the incumbents will be out in full force again.

  2. Thank you Jeff Voigt
This is our Letter to the Editor, Ridgewood News today (April 22, 2016)

Merriam-Webster defines TRUST as “assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something”. In this upcoming election for Village Council, we believe finding candidates worthy of resident’s trust must be the priority, as they will be the representative stewards of our Village at this most critical time.

Jeff Voigt, Bernadette Walsh and Ramon Hache are candidates we believe meet that test. Each has a deeply rooted connection to the Village and is running for Village Council for their own, personal reasons. Each has an independently developed vision for the future of Ridgewood, and each has expressed a willingness and desire to work alongside the continuing members of the Council to improve resident input and the transparency with which our Village Council operates.
We have clearly seen the negative results of a unified political bloc’s agenda running roughshod over the normal give and take of municipal government. Let’s go for something better this time around.
Ridgewood is in desperate need of a comprehensive, long-term vision for the future. We need candidates who want to be a part of leading a Ridgewood that will progress and grow without sacrificing everything we all love about this town-the charm, the friendly atmosphere, the excellent schools and the safety for our families. We need council members who will put resident’s interests first.

On May 10th, please vote for Jeff Voigt, Bernadette Walsh & Ramon Hache, and let’s get Ridgewood back on a path of trust in our local government.
    Thank you.
    Jim & Gail McCarthy

  3. Great letter

  4. I love it…Don’t hold back…

  5. 10:12-Right on the money. Very critical to get the Sommerville and Hawes residents involved this time.

  6. Go Jeff go.

Yes, we need to get those votes out!!

  7. Mr Weitz tear downs you signs in the CBS

  8. Agree at 1:05. Put Ridgewood first. If not now, when would you?? There are many areas where being legal does not = being right. Just imagine how he would be governing…

  9. Gail/Jim:

Thank you for your very kind letter. If elected, I will always have as my number one priority doing what is best for the Village of Ridgewood’s residents.

    Jeff

  10. who ever wins they need to work on building up services.

  11. Are you talking current or future residents. Bringing down taxes is the only realistic way to retain current residents and their grown children.

    How will you do so?
