New Brunswick NJ, earlier this week, New Jersey based Johnson & Johnson (J&J) reportedly announced that is reducing the size of its ongoing US SARS-CoV-2 vaccine clinical trial. The ongoing COVID-19 surge in the US actually benefits the trial by increasing the rate that participants are exposed and infected, meaning that the trial can meet its designated endpoint (e.g., specific number of cases) with fewer participants. In a recent press conference Dr. Moncef Slaoui, co-lead of Operation Warp Speed, emphasized that, while Pfizer and Moderna are moving closer to receiving Emergency Use Authorization, the J&J and AstraZeneca candidates are critical to the US government’s goal of vaccinating all Americans by summer 2021. J&J temporarily paused the Phase 3 clinical trials earlier this year in order to investigate an adverse event in the trial group, but it resumed the trial on October, 23.

  1. Let’s get into some real talk about Covid-19 and connect a few dots. Since the first month or two of the outbreak, this virus has killed almost no one who wouldn’t have died of other causes within a year. First, the media and big tech led a campaign against a drug that was shown very beneficial in treatment, which had been administered safely for many years. Then they suppressed and maligned talk of the efficacy of vitamins such as D, C, and Zinc in boosting immunity to the virus. With masks and social distancing and business and school closing they have prevented people from getting naturally and effectively inoculated through casual exposure to asymptomatic carriers. Now they want to force people to get vaccines with no knowledge of what’s in them, how dangerous they are or how effective they will be as the virus mutates. All the knee jerk policy responses by petty dictators such as Governor Murphy have permanently closed small businesses sending the commerce to giants such as Amazon and Walmart. People have been harassed and arrested for challenging any of the unconstitutional edicts, while those in power have openly flouted their own rules and statements. Big tech such as Google, Facebook and Twitter are openly censoring information about this virus challenging any of the draconian rules or the questionable science on which they are based. As we “fight this virus,” the country is losing real capital while increasing debt. The remaining wealth is being transferred to large companies working in tandem with the state, i.e., Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Moderna. There is a word for this. It is Fascism. There is another word. It’s totalitarianism. Please wake up and see what is happening. If the Supreme Court fails to intervene in the election, the highest seat in this land, perhaps the whole world, save China, will be a man too old and frail to get a job as a greeter in Walmart. This will be a shadow presidency and you want to give some thought about what that portends. We are spending half our days in muzzles and avoiding friends and families. What insane demand will we follow next? This mass hysteria about Covid is not just costing lives–and you should know by now that it is costing not saving lives. It is destroying the last traces of prosperity and civility and may leave all of western culture in ruins.

  2. Excellent Charles
Cuomo just shut down all NYC restaurants two weeks before Christmas !! Like it would make a difference if he waited two weeks until after Christmas. What a terrible thing to take someone’s pay check away from them two weeks before the biggest holiday of the year. Additionally, this will add to the carnage of the restaurant business in NYC. Most if not all were on life support before this shut down, he just put the final nail in the coffin.

  3. To the restaurant and bar owners and others who are concerned about their fate:
Go tell Congress, more precisely tell the US Senate, to act now. There is the Cares Act ( passed in May) and there is the Restaurant Recovery Bill( introduced in July) that a few restaurant owners in NJ help write that would assist these establishments if they were to shut down. In the New York rest/ bar closure effective on Monday Dec 14th, if a bar owner does not own the building and pays rent, the new shut down mandates that a landlord can not force an eviction notice.
So rather than helping the airlines and other big businesses that are concerned about lawsuits, the US Senate should be concerned about these small businesses that taken together are the second largest private industry in our country.

  4. What about the first responders in the Village of Ridgewood. And the workers that are working on the front lines. Will they be given the medicine.
Have the Village of Ridgewood fire department been treated, or have they just been quarantined. What has been the solution to address does anyone know. I’m just not gonna keep my company employees safe thank you.

I agree with most of what you say except “Since the first month or two of the outbreak, this virus has killed almost no one who wouldn’t have died of other causes within a year.” Very wrong. I know many people in 30-60 years old range who have lost their life with no pre existing conditions. The virus is no joke and different bodies react in different ways, very unpredictable. The response by Murphy has been a catastrophe. People should be allowed to protect themselves. I choose to stay home and only go places when necessary. Restaurants should be allowed to operate even though I would never step into one but I do order for pickup. I can live 1 yr without Thanksgiving , Christmas or any other parties. I can live with that but people should choose for themselves what’s more important to them. The politician response is solely focused into making the vaccine as widespread as possible for financial and political gains. I will never take the vaccine but I will protect myself until I think this is over. I hope all Biden supporters will take the vaccine. It will be beneficial on so many levels.

  6. It was Dr. Drew Pinsky who has said that the virus has killed almost no one who wouldn’t have died of other causes within a year. He based this on a cursory analysis of death statistics. He saw above average numbers in February and March followed by below average numbers in the proceeding two months. Then a researcher from John Hopkins, Genevieve Briand, arrived at a similar conclusion. So I feel comfortable saying the virus has killed almost no one after the first two months who wouldn’t have died of other causes, especially since treatment of Covid patients has improved greatly since those early days. I do believe that some ICU might be filling up. But this likely has more to do with the overall health of the population, which has been made worse by lockdowns, mask wearing, social distancing. People have been staying indoors, avoiding human contact, eating more junk food and drinking more alcohol and are now more vulnerable to seasonal viruses.

Countries that are using available drugs that are not perfect but are helping are doing much better. I am mystified as to why our leaders and news are against using available cheap and safe treatments to keep people out of hospitals. The abusive tyranny being inflicted on restaurants and other small businesses is heartless and heartbreaking.
