Ridgewood NJ, Mr. Steve Secora (LAN) presented information on recommended capital improvement projects for a possible future bond referendum. The review included prioritized projects at each of the district schools, with a focus on mechanical systems and classroom/corridor/bathroom upgrades. The RHS projects include fire alarm upgrades and drainage improvements as well as HVAC equipment replacement. The BFMS projects include an upgraded auditorium and media center.
The presentation slides may be viewed here.
NO MORE BONDS. I’m ready to vote “no.”
The district should filter this report according to true need in order to limit costs. “Nice to have” projects are entrancing, but resist we much!
LAN Associates seems to have a monopoly in RW. It seems like they can name any project they want. What gives?
Isn’t there a rule that projects over a certain (small) amount have to be sent out for open bids? Why is Ridgewood exclusively using Lan for all projects, even to the point of them being allowed to look into what they will get as a contract by going over each schools’ needs and summing them up (Including every possible thing they could come up with including things that are purely luxury items–anything to raise the cost of the contract that they already know that they will win in AN UNBID CONTRACT!)
Do we have to go to Court to force them to follow the rules?
