Fort Lee NJ, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has announced that the left lanes of Route 1&9 and Route 46 will remain closed in both directions until Thursday night due to emergency drainage pipe repairs. The closure is expected to impact traffic for several days.
What’s Closed?
Specifically, the left lane on Route 1&9 and Route 46 southbound, just before the exit ramp to Route 63/North Bergen Boulevard near the Exxon Station, is closed. Additionally, the northbound left lane of Route 1&9 and Route 46, near the on-ramp from Route 63/North Bergen Boulevard by the Shell Station, is also affected.
Despite the lane closures, one lane in each direction and both ramps will stay open during the construction, according to the NJDOT traffic advisory.
Timeline of Repairs
The repairs began around 9 p.m. on Monday evening, and crews are expected to work through the week. The project involves digging approximately 150 feet into the roadway and installing a new 16-inch drainage pipe. Afterward, the roadway will be repaved to complete the repairs.
NJDOT estimates the project will be completed by Thursday, September 12, after the evening commute. However, the department warns that weather or unforeseen circumstances could affect the timeline.
