East Rutherford NJ, A Bergen County father has filed a lawsuit against American Dream’s DreamWorks Water Park, alleging that his son suffered serious and permanent injuries while using a waterslide inside the entertainment complex.

Details of the Lawsuit

According to the lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Bergen County Court, the incident occurred on April 19, 2023, when the father took his son to the DreamWorks Water Park at American Dream.

While on a waterslide, the child was allegedly “severely and permanently injured” due to what the lawsuit describes as a dangerous and unsafe condition on the ride. The suit names Ameream, LLC, the company that owns and operates the water park, as well as ProSlide Technology, the manufacturer of the waterslide, as defendants.

Extent of the Injuries

Although the lawsuit does not specify the child’s age or provide details on how the injury occurred, it states that he sustained:

Serious and permanent personal injuries requiring hospitalization and medical treatment
Conscious pain and suffering
Mental anguish and loss of well-being
Long-term impact on daily routines and quality of life

The family is seeking compensatory and legal damages for the injuries and suffering caused.

American Dream Responds

A spokesperson for American Dream stated that the company does not comment on pending legal matters.

Legal & Safety Concerns at American Dream

This lawsuit adds to ongoing concerns about safety at DreamWorks Water Park, which has faced scrutiny in the past over accidents and ride malfunctions. Water parks and amusement attractions are required to meet strict safety regulations, and lawsuits like this could lead to increased oversight of ride maintenance and safety protocols.
