Ridgewood NJ, first it was AT&T, then Meta ,now LinkedIn goes down. LinkedIn, the professional networking platform, encountered technical difficulties this week, joining a list of internet sites facing similar issues.

Reports of LinkedIn being inaccessible surfaced around 4 p.m. on Wednesday. However, the platform appeared to resume normal functionality just over thirty minutes after the servers crashed. Users attempting to access their LinkedIn profiles were greeted with an error message stating, “Something went wrong,” followed by “we’re having issues loading this page.”

#LinkedIn trended on X, formerly known as Twitter, as users expressed frustration about the outage.

Earlier in the week, other social media platforms, including Meta-owned sites like Instagram, Facebook, and Threads, experienced technical glitches on Tuesday morning. These platforms were down for a little over two hours before returning to normal operation in the afternoon.

One user on X voiced dissatisfaction with the recent social media disruptions, likening reliance on these platforms to “building castles in the sand,” implying a lack of control over one’s online presence.

The issues were not limited to social media platforms, as internet service providers such as Verizon, AT&T, and others encountered service outages on February 22nd.

Thousands of users experienced disruptions in service starting shortly after 3 a.m., with Downdetector tracking site reporting 72,000 outages by 9 a.m.

In response, AT&T offered customers a $5 compensation for the inconvenience.

LinkedIn’s Help X page acknowledged the issues via a tweet, confirming that the site was back up and running as of 5:05 p.m.
