Twp. of Washington NJ, it is a point that many first responders, in most recent years, have been wanting to make – that long gone are the days when Emergency Medical Technicians were mere ambulance drivers. Today, the modern-day first responder is a highly trained, technically skilled professional with a wide range of demanding duties ranging from counter-terrorism to the protection of high-value individuals.

On the morning of October 20, 2021, an ordinary day like any other in the Pascack Valley, before the sun was even up, three Township of Washington first responders, unbeknownst to anyone else, quietly left their homes and drove off to various theaters/concert halls, TV/movie studios, and film sets. Under the direction of Justin G. Tsai, Owner, & Chief Operations Officer of Tsai Mobile Health LLC (then known as JT Dynamic Medical LLC) and past-First Lieutenant of the Township’s Ambulance Corps, the trio was on their way to provide top-notch health-safety/protection services for VIPs, actors/actresses/athletes/models, and members of the film/media/entertainment industry.
The story started a year-and-a-half earlier during the summer of 2020 when Mr. Tsai was taking on various positions with private ambulance services and even a New Jersey State Police team to assist with the COVID19 emergency, this all then lead to a chance-encounter between Mr. Tsai and a support-staff coordinator working on commercial production crews. The coordinator then recruited Mr. Tsai to provide COVID19 Safety Consulting services at a Jersey City studio producing “table-top” food commercials. A small beginning quickly lead to Mr. Tsai’s budding entertainment reel show-casing, all before Christmas of that year, various medical support services performed for Red Lobster, Blistex, Stila Cosmetics, Ouidad, Maybelline International Women’s Day, Bombas Underwear, and Cadillac commercials.
By the time March of 2021 had rolled around, Mr. Tsai was selected to serve as the sole Set Medic (formally titled as Set First Aider and entertainment lingo for a Standby EMT) on “Coons,” the pilot episode of PAUSE with Sam Jay, a HBO series that went on to successfully complete its first season and later on become renewed for a second season. In this capacity, Mr. Tsai was the sole clinician responsible for the health and protection of Ms. Samaria Johnson, the A-list comedian who professionally goes by “Sam Jay,” several other A-list and SAG-AFTRA represented performers, as well as a crew that ranged from 100 to 150 persons on any given day.
Before Memorial Day (2021) rolled around, Mr. Tsai would go on to add various medical support services for: a quasi-pro-bono day for Sesame Street, NY Knicks NBA player RJ Barrett, a season of Food Network, Westmore Beauty and Mrs. Barbara Corcoran to his reel.
Of note, Mrs. Corcoran would later go on to become one of several repeat clients of Mr. Tsai, with Mr. Tsai being invited to serve her in April, August, and December 2021. While today, Mrs. Corcoran may be known to reside in Florida, she still returns to the NYC area once every 3-4 months to meet with clients at an (undisclosed) Bergen County hotel. It is during these occasions that Tsai & Company are on hand to provide medical services for her and her associates.
It was also around this time that Mr. Tsai would go on to formally found JT Dynamic Medical LLC (“the LLC”), thereby formally registering his endeavors as a company. Today, the LLC functions as Mr. Tsai’s consulting/(medical) executive protection firm and staffing agency and provides Standby First Aid (EMT), medical support, health and safety consulting and COVID19-Safety Consulting services for the media/entertainment industry. We work to ensure the health, safety, and protection of A-list celebrities, professional athletes, performers/singers/rappers, notable individuals, and anyone/everyone part of the media/entertainment industry. Mr. Tsai and his personnel frequently provide Set Medic, Set First Aider, COVID19 Compliance Officer, Health and Safety Consulting, Health and Safety Supervisor services.
After a couple more months of providing medical support for a number of projects, to include a commercials for Ebay and Mr. Rooter, a few feature-film productions, a live sports-competition show, and a campaign for Sunglass Hut’s 50th Anniversary involving roller skaters “popping up” at the Grand Central and several other New York City parks to advertise the brand, the next big project for the Company came at the end of summer in the form of New York Fashion Week.
The name New York Fashion Week is in itself a bit of a misnomer, as in a typical year NYFW is hosted twice a year, once in February and again in September of the year. For the September 2021 NYFW, JT Dynamic Medical LLC was awarded the contract to staff multiple EMT positions simultaneously at the grand-opening of REVOLVE’s Gallery in Hudson Yards, Manhattan. And this was all while Mr. Tsai was already accompanying crew and cast for a major TV network reality show into the mountains of The Berkshires in Massachusetts. Thus, a team comprising of EMTs from Township of Washington, Ridgewood, and New York City was assembled to handle the volume of business during that time.
In short order after New York Fashion Week, the Company would be awarded the contract to serve the singer Lorde at a concert at Roosevelt Island, New York City. This was again while Mr. Tsai was away in the Berkshires, thus the project was completed by another EMT from the Township of Washington, working per-diem for Mr. Tsai as a sub-contractor.
Just a few weeks later another big opportunity came up for Mr. Tsai, by way of a contract with The Wellmont Theater, Montclair, NJ, in conjunction with Live Nation Entertainment, in which Tsai & Company were to provide Medical Support services for live concerts of 2500 and sometimes even more attendees. At these concerts, while local emergency services units were placed on standby for the crowds and attendees, EMT Tsai was on hand and dedicated to providing medical care only for famous rappers Don Toliver, Rod Wave, and Benny the Butcher, their entourages, background performers, and other VIPs.
In the weeks that followed, Mr. Tsai would then receive contracts to serve on projects for Westmore Beauty, for the second time in 2021, and then Sephora. Early December saw EMT Tsai serving as Standby EMT for 13th Stepping: A Film by Emily Ruhl, a film project made to promote Alcoholics Anonymous, that included use of overhead machinery, rooftop filming, rooftop stunts, and intimacy scenes.
The holidays then rolled around the corner, and no doubt kept Mr. Tsai busy still. This time around, EMT Tsai was tasked as Standby EMT for KIA’s New Years Eve Numerals Event at Times Square NYC. This is the public and news media event with a number of officials including Kia executives for Kia’s delivery of the “2022 Numerals” for the upcoming ball drop.
The New Years then rolled around, with 2022 seeing Mr. Tsai get busy almost right away. By mid-January, Mr. Tsai was travelling up to the Catskills Mountains, NY, to serve as Health and Safety Supervisor (Consultant) for Uncoupled Season 1, a ViacomCBS and Netflix series featuring Neal Patrick Harris and other celebrities, 30+ SAG talent, numerous background (non-SAG) talent, and 175+ crew.
February 2022 then came around, and just a few days after returning home from the Catskills, EMT Tsai and Company was awarded a contract to serve on the 94th Academy Awards/OSCARS Nominations. This then followed by being tasked to accompany well known Actors Michael Biehn (AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” “The Terminators,” “Aliens,” “Navy SEALs”) and Ben A. Foster (HBO’s “The Survivor) during their in-studio interview recordings.
Most recently, EMT Tsai travelled to Seattle, Washington in March 2022 to join the crews of Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch: Season 18 and Deadliest Catch: The Viking Returns.
A seven-year veteran of the service, Mr. Tsai first became involved with the emergency services while still a teenager in high school, and entered Initial Emergency Medical Technician Training in the spring of 2015, during his very last semester of high school. During his time at EMS Academy, then-Candidate EMT Tsai quickly gained a reputation for being one of the top graduates of his class. Mr. Tsai would then continue on to serve three years, 2017, 18, and 19 as Lieutenant of the Township’s Ambulance Corps, during which time then-Lt. Tsai was featured several times in the past in the Pascack Press for counter-terrorism (Bomb and Nuclear) training he conducted with FEMA during two of his college summers as well as a partnership he forged between the Corps and the local girls scouts. Over the years, Mr. Tsai was amongst the EMTs with the highest number of calls answered per year for several years, as well as having several “CPR-Save” awards, and letters of appreciation issued by Rutgers University (for attending to an emergency while in the Mexican wilderness) and the Township Police Chief (for saving an officer’s life). EMT Tsai is known to have remained on active-service in the Corps during the COVID19 pandemic, in fact, in the early days, even taking on various positions outside of the Corps and serving with a New Jersey State Police team to help with the pandemic emergency. Reputed for his enthusiasm in attending first-responder related classes and seminars, EMT Tsai is qualified on the Corps both as an Ambulance Crew Chief and Driver. Mr. Tsai graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing (with minors in Psychology and undergraduate certificate in Business) from Seton Hall University.
During the few moments when Mr. Tsai is not eagerly engaged with emergency services work, he is an avid traveler and enjoys visiting international destinations and road tripping, and looks forward to many new adventures with his recently purchased RAM 1500 Limited Longhorn edition.
In recent times, staffing shortages throughout healthcare and the emergency services have only worsened as a result of the pandemic. It has never been a secret that, while first responder careers are not known to be particularly lucrative, serving as an EMT does act as a solid springboard into a plethora of other potential career paths, whether it be elsewhere in healthcare, or even in a niche industry like the one Mr. Tsai & Company serve in.
Mr. Tsai and his personnel enjoy helping filmmakers, directors, producers and event organizers make their productions and projects possible and making everyone feel safe. While Mr. Tsai and his personnel typically serve the film, media, entertainment, and live-event production industries in roles such as Set Medic, Set First Aider, Event Medic, Event First Aider, Standby EMT, COVID19 Compliance Officer, Health and Safety Consultant, Health and Safety Supervisor, Mr. Tsai is certainly always looking for new opportunities to explore with his company. Other areas of interest to Tsai & Company include construction safety and even local community/municipal opportunities to provide EMT standbys for youth sports functions, special events, and the like.
Of course, Mr. Tsai is always interested too to add to his roll of per-diem EMTs (and other healthcare professions) to help with his company, and, given that a number of his clients also employ off duty law enforcement and military/veterans (as security), firefighters (for fire-safety) and lifeguards (for water-related projects), the Owner and Chief is happy to receive resumes from all emergency services and healthcare personnel of any discipline, especially those personnel who are cross-trained.
To contact Mr. Tsai for any questions, comments, or potential future opportunities / collaborations or to submit a resume, the Owner and Chief may be reached at 917 420 5878 or JGTsai.Freelance@gmail.com .
