Hackensack NJ, A noise complaint on Main Street early Sunday morning escalated into a series of criminal charges for a Leesburg man, including assault on law enforcement and property damage.
The Incident on Main Street
On May 4, 2026, at approximately 1:32 AM, Hackensack police officers responded to reports of a disturbance on Main Street. Upon arrival, officers observed a group of four men engaged in a heated argument on the sidewalk.
The situation turned violent when one individual, identified as 34-year-old Rashaun A. Hawes, entered a parked vehicle and repeatedly punched another male, who was later identified as a relative of the suspect. Officers intervened immediately, placing Hawes under arrest.
Escalation at Headquarters
The confrontation did not end with the initial arrest. According to police reports, while at headquarters, Hawes became increasingly combative. Authorities state that Hawes:
