Mall Chaperone Policy Now in Effect at Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus

Paramus NJ, the new chaperone policy is now in place at the Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus. It is an attempt to crack down on unruly teenagers and lax parenting. The new policy went into effect Friday at 5 p.m. Anyone under the age of 17 who wants to come to the mall Friday and Saturday nights must be accompanied by someone over the age of 21.

Signs were posted at mall entrances reminding shoppers of the new policy. Security guards and police officers were also posted up at mall entrances checking IDs, much like the club, ensuring everyone followed the new rules. According to Westfield Garden State’s website, anyone 17 and under who is at the mall unaccompanied during the days and times when the policy is in effect could be asked to leave, or they must be joined by someone 21 or older immediately.
Westfield says on their website, “Like many shopping centers across the country, we have experienced an increase in disruptive behavior that violates the center’s code of conduct by a small minority of younger visitors. Taking this extra step in our security measures will ensure a pleasant and safe environment for our families and every member of our community, as well as our retail partners.”
Police officers and mall security guards will be at all shopping center entrances to check IDs (a state issued driver’s license or ID card, a military ID, a school ID card, or a passport), and those who cannot provide identification will be required to have a chaperone. One adult aged 21 or older can accompany up to four youths.

    1. Maybe you should stop for a second and realize the kids from poor cities do not have a safe place to hang out with their friends. Stop being such an insensitive. Racist prick.

      1. Hey jerkoff 12 % of the population commits 80% of the violent crime. Racist? NO.. FACT.. FBI stats
You liberals have your head up your ass by refusing to acknowlege that the accepted cultural practices by certain groups, with mob mentality, is to scream loot, and riot… remember those ‘peaceful protests”? Of course you dont.
Ever watch the news, because they arent allowed to say the ethnicity of the criminal, but if you got your head out of your ass and looked at the booking photos they speak for themselves.
The kids from the poor cities can thank their accepted culture of violence for the shit hole they live in.
Now they are coming to ruin bergen county. Take your head out of your ass

      2. When a liberal disagrees with the facts, they think tossing the ‘racist’ bs will somehow have an effect on facts. I suggest you move back to Brooklyn with your piss poor attitude and potty mouth.

  4. Hmm. The racist is the person assuming kids from those areas are a certain race/color. The poster was referring to values, or lack thereof.

  5. Referring to Newark and Paterson as shit-hole cities is racist. Deny it if you wish.

    1. As a matter of actual fact,
a Racist is someone who IS a Liberal.

      It’s Settled Science.

  8. I was there last weekend and the Paramus Police made sure it was safe secure and everybody was following the new rules. The police were all over the place as well as a huge increase in mall security.
